Essiential Files

In order to play WarOnline.Net you need Flash5+ and IE5+.

Map Editor (optional)

Unzip the following file to a new directory and follow the Instructions.txt to create your own maps and send them in for review.

Local Download Files (optional)

Downloading the following .ZIP files will enable you to load all images and maps from your local hard drive.
This effectively cutting down on download times and increasing your overall game performance/experience.
Note : This is OPTIONAL, and is NOT required to play.

INSTRUCTIONS :
To install the local files you need to create a local directory/folder on your computer.
e.g. Create a directory like "C:\WARONLINE"
This can be done with WindowsExplorer, or via MyComputer, etc...

Then download ALL the following .ZIP files and UNZIP them into that new directory/folder.
Do not just copy the .zip files there. You must unzip/extract them to the new directory/folder.
Warning: Do not simply right-click then Extract To [zipfilename], as this creates a new folder.
An example directory/folder structure after extraction...
c:\waronline
c:\waronline\flash
c:\waronline\flash\newmap234.swf
...
c:\waronline\images
c:\waronline\images\land\10.gif
...
c:\waronline\includes
etc....

If your directory/folder structure does not look like that you have done something wrong.

Once that is complete, go to the Modify Account page and add that path (eg. "C:\WARONLINE") to the Local Download Path text box and update your account.

Now all images, maps, etc are being loaded from your local computer meaning faster gameplay!

WARNING!!
If you do not follow these instructions correctly, attempting this may result in no images and no terrain(black background instead) appearing.
If so, please check that your directory structure looks like the example above otherwise just delete the Local Path field in your Account settings to return to normal.

Local Downloads IE.6 Security Fix

Those wanting to use the Local Downloads and Internet Explorer 6.x will need to alter their Trusted Domain settings.

Go Tools - Internet Options - Security - click Trusted Sites - click Sites button - add "waronline.net" - turn off "Require HTTPS"
After all that, click OK and OK again. That's it!!
