There could be a tech analagous to the higher level armor and attack techs that melee troops get, for ranged as well.

Sharpshooter, DeadEye, William Tell, whatever.

Now, this would only apply to strength, not added range, that seems crazy.

I figure if melee can be armored to the teeth, some guy could still shoot out his eye.

My opinion is that something like this would be good to attain PRESENT range and strength (i.e. maybe just one level higher on both) from a much lower starting level of range and strength.
Folks complained in the past that ranged units were too strong and I didn't agree but of course I didn't ever put together a stack of 300 ballista before either.
I also think ranges of both sight and ranged units is too great now and could be made acceptable with tech like this.

I thought about this one, and I guess that the higher level attack techs apply to ranged as well....or do they?

I think there has been a change to cause damage to be greater the closer the target or something like that so I would imagine that the present attack techs enhance that feature (i.e. if I'm right about the change).

If Req were to consider a tech like this, I think it would be better if the minimum damage for ranged units were raised a point or two, to represent that more arrows will hit.
