Is there anything like this in the game?

It would be nice, to have "mobile" assault Towers, they could be slow and easy pickings for melee assaults, more protected to ranged (Archers and Arbelister only perhaps).

Could function as normal outposts, just mobile. And a unit could cross from it directly to the interior of the castle (or over a defensive wall) IF it was inside the Tower and the Tower next to a Castle Wall.

Instead of Massing the Melee units on the Gates and having lots of Ranged on the rest, a defender would have to improvise IF he allowed the Tower to come next to it's walls.

What Rap is politely saying, I think, is that stone is largely for towers and not much else. When it gets late game, stone prices usually mean you can just build a line right up to your opponent's home base

Depending on map type, of course

sorry CTDXXX... but i'm not following, what would be the point of building a stone tower next to my oponent's castle? does it allow me to get into it???

CTD is saying that late in the game if you dont have more than 10,000 stone your doing something wrong, Late in the game stone is only used for building towers, drawbridges and walls while wood and metal is used for building troops so stone doesnt have much of a use so it is easy to build alot of towers all the way to someones castle for the extra range

ah ok... but my idea for the "mobile" towers, was the one of the "assault" or siege towers... not as much as range, but more as another way to pour soldiers into the castle.

So you mean ladders not towers.

well i really meant "assault" towers, they were used a lot in medieval wars.

though ur idea of ladders would be a nice upgrade for the melee troops (non cavalry).

Or how about a giant wood horse presented as a gift with armies hiding inside.

All kidding aside... The siege machines work well breaching walls. We'll have to settle for using them.
