I attacked dopolop in a game with HC and the archers didn't do any damage. I then followed it up with pikemen and still no retal was done.

There aren't any other troops that could have attacked him before mine. If you look at the killed the unit had the full compliment of troops.

Is this a bug or don't ranged get a melee retal

If it was a campaign then the answer is simple:

He did not have enough BPs to retaliate at that time. Even moving will reduce BPs. Or counterattacking.

Moving your troops doesn't lower the retal except to bring it to 100% if you had a bonus. And yes archers should retal melee. only think i can think of is someones ranged took his retal away.

it's possible the archer retal was not enought to actually kill any HC.

It would still show the amount of damage done, even if it wasn't enough to kill a unit.

Trainer is reporting "Wounds : 0.0" in his messages.

The archers were probably horrified with the HC charging at them, so naturally they froze with fear and were slaughtered.

There were no other troops in the area. This was archers 1 and I killed 59 of them. So they weren't attacked by another troop before me
