i typed the url for my pic but it still wont show up ........................ i corrected evry misstake but it still just comes up as an empty bow with a little white square in it .............. i cant post this in bug reports because it's ot importen enough to be fixed ........... and i don't think it's a bug .........................so if you hae any ideas please let me know

There is a limit to the size it can be(you'll have to search somewhere in the threads), but other than that it might be the type of file.
Hope you can work it out.

When I right click on your picture I got this under properties -
waronline.net/forums/q=tbn:uhRAMPmuyZ0J:www.obsidiandawn.com/image.
Try this - Go into modify and remove - waronline.net/forums/q=tbn:uhRAMPmuyZ0J:

Then fix the - www.obsidiandawn.com/image part of it.

See if that will work

Try making your image a .jpeg format file, make sure it is small enough to fit into the space provided and use the file extension in the name, i.e. image.jpg

That might help.

Also check on how others do their l;ink. Just right click on their picture to see where their link come from. Copy that link into a browser and see the original.
Just look that Mog's, it is home.earthlink.net/~johnoco/Mog.gif
As Mog has said - make sure your picture is a jpg or jpeg or gif or similar.
Your link simply does not make sense.

i don't understand

When an image is created it is of some kind of file type, such as a .jpeg, a .gif, .PICT. etc. When you link to the image you need to specify to the browser what file type it is.

/yourDirectory/image.filetype
/nobodyshomeDirectory/myImage.jpeg

like that. You may need to convert your image from the file type iti s now to one of the ones that can be seen by the browser. If you have Photoshop or an equivalent imaging software, you should be able to save your image as a different file type when you save it. Try "Save As" to do this. Save it as a copy with a jpeg or gif file type.

If you don't have such a program, you may send me the image by email, my email is on my bio page. I'll convert it for you and send it back.

Ok. What type of file is your image?

I visited the site provided above. It has many Sci-Fi images and other things...most in .htm format. I don't think you can link to them directly. Some materials on the site might work in the downloads and avatars section.

If you provide the entire file path of the one you are interested in somebody here might be able to help.

yeah the pages are in .htm, but if you click on them you'll see a bigger image.

Now, all you need to do is this:

(1) Find the picture you want (after you already clicked on it to bring up a bigger picture).
(2) Right click on it and choose "Properties"
(3) Copy what's in the Address/URL field.
(4) Paste this where WoL asks for it on your user page.

I tried to link one to mine just as a test. It didn't work. I checked the site and here is why:

We DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT LINKING to the avatars on our site.You must save the avatar to your computer. Direct linked images will appear as a broken image.

They list a couple of free image hosting sites that you could upload one to and then link to there. If you have trouble figuring this out, just let me know and I can help. Or better yet, just find another site that you can link to directly...just cut and paste the link as card suggested.

I think the original image will work, but it needs to be saved to your computer.. to do this:

1. Go to the www.obsidiandawn.com/image link
2. Right click on the image, a menu will appear, click on the "Save Image to Computer"
3. Save the Image as myavatar.jpg or something in the directory..
4. Go back to the account modifying page, and copy/paste the path of the image in to the "Image URL" space.. should be something like "C:\My pictures\myavatar.jpg" or something. and voila!

I don't know if you're supposed to put the path as a long filename or not..

Btw: are you using a Mac?
