I've read a few things on the subject, and have now to "post-pone" my games, due to something that happened to me on a personal level. Now, my games... went not down the drain (think that i was lucky) but ofcourse that some of the players with whom i was envolved in squirmishes, DID enjoy that time to get a nice big army and come strolling by.
Now, the fault was mine, i ain't suggesting anything... after all... it was I who had to keep away from the games. But wouldn't it be helpful, to have an "auto-message" thing, to warn the game's players that for some reason a particular player had to step out of the game momentaniously?
Ofcourse that, this could be abused... so my suggestion would be that everything would keep the same, but the resources, units and buildings of that particular player would be in a limbo (like... renegades), could be conquered and killed... but it wouldn't count for the player loss of points.
To prevent the rule's abuse i would suggest, a limit to the times 1 could use this option. What do U think? |

If you're going to be gone for a while, then you should message the other players anyway. Sure, some won't listen or will take the opportunity to attack, but I don't see this change helping stop that.
Plus this would be abused, probably at least once every game. Once players think they have lost a game, they'd probably just use this, so that they don't lose any exp from their remaining troops. Or for the smarter players: they'd probably use this once they realize they can't do 1/2 the damage the enemy can to them. Additionally, since when they use this option there's no need for them to check that game again, it could be hard to prove who's doing this just for abuse, or who really has an emergency and can't check the game.

Still ways around it... AND like I said in my first post, you don't really gain much at all with this change.
