Now that I got your attention I'll first apologize for such a bold statement, but maybe after you read what I'm trying to explain you will understand me better.

I love this game, some time ago I was looking for a nice, rich, entertaining game that challenged my strategy buds and I found it. WOL!. It had all and more that I wanted. I became gold immediately after my 1st campaing ... but this great fun came with a bundle that I'm no longer so sure about ... it's player community. I hate what it has become!. It used to be friendly and nice, and now what it is annoys the hell out of me because it is no longer enjoyable, sorry but it ain't. Every time I need to worry about someone doing that it is not nice, being a jerk, or something.

Where is the healthy fun experience?, now is all greedy for points, and position, even as to spit on top of other players, just to beat them, not caring if it was fun, nor enjoyable. BEATING, DESTROYING, forgetting the essence of the game ... fun.

THIS IS A GAME, and as such needs to be enjoyable to ALL, not just you or me. And be sure that when stupid things are done they are interferring with the fun of others.

It is incredible that we're discussing GANG-BANGING!. We all know it is not good, why argue about it!?, why discuss!?, why add argument?!, but's, if's, it is TOTALLY wrong from whatever angle you put it. If we discuss this, it only shows us how low as a community we have gotten, and that saddens me deeply

Vultures of wars just hanging low trying to pick the fruits of warring parties are gangbangers, are also bad, low, that do not care about beating some one for being better, but only care about beating, at any cost ... even over fun.

I'm so sad I posted this, but well maybe a little of the old feeling will be remembered and you'll reminisce ... and who knows...maybe WOL will become enjoyable 100%.

Belive me this game deserves a good player community, in size, but also in quality. Where so few, that bad apples REALLY corrupt the whole lot.

So just block out the annoying bickering. It makes things so much nicer.

I think there are a few exceptions and I am about to help the weakest player in the game who was attacked first against the second strongest player in the game because I am the second weakest player in the game and even though we still don't stand much of a chance against a player with 212+ HCs, as mentioned the opportunity to grab first place is just too strong for some to resist and it sure isn't me or the weakest guy that have that oppoprtunity.

I agree with gueritol this game is starting to S.U.C.K!!!! im not qued in any games and im considering leaving cause all the argueing and all the good players were losing why stay when we have lost so many already? Is everyone so lame they really havent noticed?
Look around have you seen grump lately or pimpin dont tell me you dont miss them cause its been ages since ive seen a nakie flash, its sad that nobody misses them two ecspecially!!!

What shall we do? We can't expect gangbangers to quit, they have no honor to begin with.

Reporting cases of banging in the forums just make for huge arguments about who did what to whom and who is to blame. I haven't seen anything get accomplished by doing that.

I suspect we just have to live with these tactics and band together in games to fight obvious abuses. If you are in a game with 9 other players and see a gang attack, go help the victim. Sometimes you will lose because it is a hard thing to fight.

If it is just for the fun, which it should be, taking out gangbangers should be the most fun of all!

It makes me angry to see such good players as Gueritol and Rog Ironfist losing heart and contemplating quitting due to the actions of a few unprincipled members. Please reconsider, and find a way to fight the bangers.

What shall we do?

Team games maybe? But without the option to choose what team you are on. Reds against blues. Individual as well as team points. Higher score for team than individual. It would take some thinking to get a good and fair point scale I guess.

Now wait a "cotton pickin" second. Then gang attacking is used to be the solution to a player who interferes right?
So it's right sometimes right? Well I think there are other times to fight off guys who prey on the weak that it should be considered right too.

I PMed you about the interference in Skirm 62 with my war with a player. We chased the intruder off and I only blocked him while another who helped us, finished him by himself but as soon as he was run off a second player tried to take advantage almost before the first one was gone; and we stayed to run him off. We are talking about a player who had been at war with me for about 14 turns losing two metal mines and getting his gempond and gold mine reduced to about 16% efficiency and losing a woodmill to a player who decided to help himself, plus a quarry that the two intruders took turns grabbing.

This player was an excellent competitor to be able to survive all of that and he did but took losses with each encounter and I would say is now the weakeast player on the field even though he is 4th and ranked 2nd in prowess.
Now the second strongest player requests a cease fire with the strongest player who granted it unfortunately and then proceeds to attack the weakest player IMO just to grab first place.

Ok I'll JUST WATCH from a distance unless he attacks me first because the weak guy is getting help now from another but IMO we need to get some people to change their style of play and IMO we need to do something about protecting the weak. That's chivalrous and I would even include the girls in that protection.

It's not a cut and dried situation. Some people would call some actions gangbanging and others would not.

To me, if you join forces with someone else and use your two armies to attack a third individual, that's gangbanging.

If the player with the most castles, who is in first place is attacked by multiple players, that is just how it goes.

Obvious gang attacks should be stopped by a coalition of all other players. Stop your war and go help out. Message the offenders to stop ganging. Tell others in your game about it.

There's no easy solution. We can make it harder for gangers to operate, however. This game has no absolute rules beyond courtesy, I find. We can ask others to play as fairly as possible and hope they get the message that they will be shunned if they continue to be discourteous. Losing excellent players who have honor is not fair, letting dishonest players rise to the top is sad.

let's get this straight.
I was at war with a certain player that I mentioned above.
A third party jumped in and grabbed my opponent's quarry. It would have been a gang attack if I continued to attack my first opponent but I didn't. We stopped to run off the intruder and a third player helped and defeated him by himself. We were the good guys and the intruder of our war was the bad guy according to legends I have heard.

PS:
One of the last things a certain dancing character did as I recall was help my opponent defeat me in a gang attack.

TR, if the situation you mention is the game we are currently in, I agree, you had a poacher who needed a slappin'. I didn't mean to imply that you were a gangbanger if that is what you are worried about.

As to the title of the thread, what's wrong with it?

I did it very thinking about the controversy.

I maybe should have wrote it: WOL is the best!, it's player community s.u.c.k.s. (Saddly including me).

I'll give you names:

boe, we arranged our war since we found each other in the map, it was clean, it was fun. I loved getting my butt kicked. I left the barracks ready, no calling in of teammates for help, no 'burning' down the castle, no giving away my resources to others. Clean.

mimic, arranged war great fun, sadly I had more castle and it was not all that balanced, but very respectfull and nice.

viva, major *** kicker war against (another in the list comming below) and me, could been more easily erased. clean massive fun. Told us to better team up, since maybe we had better chances. no fuzz. great game. bad loosing .

sage, nice clean playing and warring, he kicks your troops around and mails you mocking you, you kick his troops around, he mails you ... also to mock you. fun! what is all about, playing.

Fan, Raptor, byron & crovax (FSA that I been in war against in FFA games - don't worry BA soon well meet ) clean games, clean funs, no fuzzs, no nononse.

There are more (not many) who will I sit in a game and know there will be no issues, no bs, just gaming.

I would very much like to add you to this list...help me...help us.

I'm hopefull that this wake up call will make you rethink your 'love' for the game, and that includes the community which is you, me, and all.
