running win2k with ie6.
when i open map, the map screen appears, the loading counts up to 86% or so (full i guess, cause it goes very quick). then the loading... banner appears, then nothing happens.
i'm not abble to type in waronline.net/main.asp and hit refresh without the http appearing in the front. i added all combinations of waronline.* to trusted sites...
when i enlarge the map window to the right, i get to see some strange army-icons and grey land tiles.
what now? get modzilla or something?
desperate me... |

| Posted : Monday, 25 July 2005 - 19:59 It sounds to me like the map may be open if you can see "army-icons and grey land tiles". Can you see a multi-colored background? Fog of war doesn't allow you to see more than the background and castle locations at first.
Anyway you also need the latest version of "Flash".
Also I have found that it is important to DELETE TEMPORARY FILES to clear your cache memory which is done by openning INTERNET OPTIONS in your CONTROL PANEL and on the first screen called GENERAL you should see a block called TEMPORARY FILES with an option that says DELETE FILES. If you do this properly there should be no danger to your computer but I still assume no responsibilty for telling anyone to delete the temporary files of their computer. However, if you click DELETE FILES and then OK when it is done deleting, that is how to delete temporary files.
After that the "waronline.net/main.asp" procedure should be initiated from your homepage. When you are at your homepage erase the URL and put waronline.net/main.asp in the empty URL field and then click the GO ARROW. When you reach the WOL site, before you log into the site, erase just the "h t t p : / /" that has appeared in the URL field and then click refresh and "waronline.net/main.asp" should be there alone. Now log into the game and try to enter the game.

| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 09:36 Raznor it is ok for the http to appear infront of the URL. You just don't want "www." to be in front of the waronline.net address.
The map has 2 loading phazes it sounds like yours goes through the first section and stops. Have you tried right clicking on the map page and refreshing? Last Edited : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 11:03 | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 10:28 It's probably true that just the "www." is the only part not necessary in the URL, but the original instructions to correct the problem I believe said to enter "waronline.net/main.asp" ONLY into the URL; and I did also see that the "h t t p : / /" would still appear, but it's also true that I can cause the "h t t p : / /" to be eliminated as I have stated whether it is necessary or not.
PS: Raznor I don't see it stated that you have the latest version of "Flash" and I don't know if that is the problem either but you do have to have it I believe.

| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 11:21 got flash 7.something, newest version
deleted all cookies, temp files etc. multiple times
cant see the proper map i guess, because most of it is black and it only appears to the top right of the loading banner (when i enlarge the window that is). the loading banner itself stays there for over 10 mins, havent waited longer to see if it will ever finish. the frame with the banner cant be right clicked cause its flash, only gives me the flash options.

| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 12:06 Why did you delete cookies? I didn't say to do that but that also reminds me that you have to allow "popups" at this site. I have no idea if deleting cookies is causing the problem or not, but I think there may be a "cookie" necessary to allow "popups" or something here.
PS: I think anthing that has to be openned is considered a "popup" including the map.

| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 14:34 if i had popups disabled i wouldnt have the map window opening...
and the cookies should have nothing to do with it, they are renewed everytime i access this site. | | Raznor Joined 15/07/2005 Posts : 4
| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 16:37 freaking map works with modzilla firefox, must be a ie bug | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
| Posted : Tuesday, 26 July 2005 - 18:03 Well I was going to say that some folks are using "firefox" and as far as it being an "i.e. bug", I think it may be possible it is a compatibility problem because there are constant changes for WinXP and Win2K may be starting to get behind the changes. I don't know if that makes any sense but I'm trying to say that maybe Win2K is starting to become incompatible with "i.e.6".
PS: I''m no expert ... I just happen to have the information that was given to fix this problem when it first occurred but I have WinXP and maybe because "firefox" is being mentioned so often now, it may be the solution for folks who don't have WinXP. I also have 512 Meg of Ram and a 1.6 GigHrtz P4 processor so it may definitely be a compatibility problem I think.
