| Posted : Monday, 25 July 2005 - 12:37 Clans can't help you level. But you can have fun GBing your opponents. Not only is GBing acceptable in caln games, it is EXPECTED.
If you need help learning and can't find the information in the manual or in the forums send a message to a vet. Choose a talkative one because they tend to be online more often. |

| Posted : Monday, 22 August 2005 - 07:56 Emanuel...I'm sure you are an expert gamer, this place is full of them!
No disrespect to you, but it will take longer than a month to lose your novice status. You may pick up on battles quickly and even level up in that area, but campaigns, which is what clans are mostly for, is a whole different beast. One good campaign can take up to two months to complete, depending on the speed you select to play. Slow games can take twice that long! So you can see why it can take awhile to become a good campaigner...
Good luck though...and welcome to WoL! |

| Posted : Monday, 22 August 2005 - 13:35 Bloody-hell....er i mean bloody_wasteland,
currently Im very active in Med. diplomacy. (its kinda like medivel total war campaign part with out the battles) anyway ive been playing that for about 1 year(turns are 1/week) and am currently in three games atm. in my main game my allaince is in route to claiming victory(but that can all change with each turn as you may guess, the minor alliances usually join agianst the one posed to win.)I siad one month is all i need just to understand the layout/movement/abilities of the game/troops. If it takes you more than a month to learn how to move these troops then you really are not a good player.
the rest of the game(camp.) i would guess involves tactics/strategy if you dont have that by now than no amount of time spent here will get you that. bloody wasteland, im a novice atm but once i get a feel for this game. i want to challange you to a duel if you agree. since you claim that one month wasnt enough time for you to learn to play this game. I will show you that in one month is all i need to be upto or surpass your level.
let me know like is siad before i usually sign one two times per day.
Good Day Gentlemen.......

| Posted : Monday, 22 August 2005 - 14:20 Emanuel, don't them them discourage you. You can certainly seperate yourself from the noobs in a month if you have skill.
Like BW said, campaigns take a long time to complete. So you're likely to be playing people below your skill level for a LONG time. If you're decently intelligent and active, a good placement in a 1-40 game is guaranteed to you. So spend the time experimenting, learning new things, ect...eventually (and it will take longer than a month, sadly) you'll get into games with people who can challenge you.
In the meantime, though...BATTLES. Battles are a new players way to prove himself. When I see a level 1:1 player, I think "noob." When I see a level 1:80 player who's only played 20 or 30 battles, I think "this guy has potential." If you're smart enough to do well in battles, you'll be smart enough to do well in campaigns. Campaigns will take you a little longer to learn, since they're so slow...but you'll get them eventually.
So if you want to shed the title of "noob" quickly, you have to battle. It could take you 6 months or longer to get to a respectable campaign level, despite how good you are. But with battles, you could get to the top ten in a week, if you battled often enough. For new players, battles is what really shows how good they are, since they don't discriminate based on how long you've been here.
Good luck |

I don't think I like that idea Sagey!
Seriously, Emanuel, what Sage said is absolutely true. Just jump into a few campaigns and take the time to complete them...and battle everyday! It is fun and healthy!
Best of luck, H. |

| Posted : Monday, 22 August 2005 - 21:09 As there aren't any 6 hour battles, no one's queued for any of the timedbattles right now, and you have to have a battle rank of 20 before you can play them, I'm gonna assume Emanuel really queued up for a couple campaigns.
For your reference Emanuel, here is a list of all the game types and whether they're ranked...
Unranked Campaign types: "Beginner," "Ultra," and "Clan"
Ranked Campaign types: "Game," "Fast," "Slow," Skirmish," and "LMS."
Unranked Battle types: "Novice" and "Practice"
Ranked Battle types: "Autobattle," "Battle," and "TimedBattle"
So if you want to increase your campaign rank make sure you don't waste your time on the Beginner games. Likewise if you want to increase your battle rank go for the autobattles, and once you get to level 20 you can play the regular battles.
