I've seen it being played, but I'm sorry doom is still the best FPS there is. ALL other FPS games followed it.
Although I will say that Halo2 has an awesome feature that wasn't even thought of when doom first came out, and that feature gives it a uniqueness that does make it a great game.

It was far to short and was nowhere near as good as half-life 2.
