Check the game news to see who has quit and who has already started in war.

Zoom the map out to see where castles are located or have disappeared.

Try to learn the online routine of your opponents.

Check the ranking to get an idea of the prowess of your opponents.

I'll help get this rolling... :-)
Is it that easy to find someone's routine? I've never noticed in all the months I've been here...unless, of course, you track them 'anorak' style :-)

Does routine here means deployment tactics, habits, etc?

I believe routine here means the times your opponent logs on.

Time your oppenent logs on only is important if you can work *around* their time....meaning you must have a lot of time on your hand to take full advantage of having this knowledge.

Yes I think it is important to know when it is safe for you to get some sleep at least. I have one opponent who is quite inactive online from about 11:00 PM until late morning and of course around midnight I even things up a bit.

On the other hand I have another opponent who comes online at every "green light" when he initiates an attack much like me and he is "knocking at my castle doors" right now with 3 ballista armies.

PS:

Also I just made what I thought were some self-explanatory statements pertaining to intelligence. I am still not going to try to elaborate on them and if you can't see any merit in them I am sorry if I have wasted your time.

However I will offer one little analgous story. Several years ago when my wife was still with me my 10 year old step son would go into the bathroom at about 7:00 AM and not come out until about 7:45 AM with my young 4 year old son kicking and screaming at the bathroom door "Billy let me in!".

This went on for about a month with both my wife and me yelling to no avail for Billy to not take so long in the bathroom. Finally I am very proud to say that my young 4 year old son solved the problem all by himself by getting up at 6:30 AM every morning and using the bathroom ahead of Billy.

If anyone is going to say, "ummm,,, what does that have to do with intelligence?", please don't expect an answer.)

WE know, we know... :-)
Intel = knowledge about something :-)

What I originally meant is - is it really so easy to get that kind of info with only a couple of logins a day?
Or is it strictly for you (and those in a similar spot) who have the time to work it out?

Well yes CTD I see your point now. If you only log on a couple of times a day it would be a bit difficult to determine your opponents online routine but there are some guys who seem to always be online and a lot who log on only once or twice a day like you say and a definite advantage can be gained over occassional players.

PS: Sometimes though with a little logic if you happen to see that you have logged on twice in a 12 hour period and your opponent consistently has not made any moves during that time period I think you can assume he hasn't been online.

If that sequence of events consistently occurs I think you can start to think your opponent is either sleeping during that time or possibly working or at school or something.

45 mins in the toilet? was your son secretly a girl? j/k... 45 mins tho, for a lad, thats just inhuman...

btw, u said u level things up just after he goes to bed (and thus after he logs off, im guessing)... well, surely its better to make ure attacks just before he would normally make his... the whole first strike idea and all... there are not a great deal of times when it is best to give away that first strike...

miltiary intel is a weird thing... intel generally is not at all to do with knowledge... yet mil intel is pure knowledge... it should be called military knoweldge... ... besides any of the above, military intelligence is an oxymoron...
