Sit back and build defensive forces. Try to make no contact with any of the other players. On the ranking board try and achieve 0 death and 0 kills. While everyone else is killing each other use scouts to see what is going on. Make huge stacks of archers for outposts and upgrade all techs.--------- Trying this strat now--- will post the results.

haveing your kills and deaths at 0 -- hopeing mabey the other players will think im not active, and lure them in.

They won't if they read the forums.
You also won't have zeros unless you also decide
not to take over any resource buildings.

On the other hand, you have time to develop weapons.

However, this plan has it's flaws.

1) The players who beat me typically have several castles already, and had started cleaning people out while I was still thinking about it

2) What happens if you get raided early? The plan would have to be abandoned anyway...

3) As Think Tank says, you'll end up with no resources
Actually, that's not entirely true, I don't think you get scoreboard EXP for taking over buildings, but the comms do. Maybe we've found a bug? (Or a feature! )
However, you definitely can't hit piles, which give BIG bonuses at the start.

4) Archers are fine - until someone builds a tower right on the edge of your land and puts some marksmen or ballistae in it. Ask Saint2k about this

But keep thinking - the effort at least is a worthy cause!

So its the piles the give you Exp.
I just know that most players get Exp,
way before any one starts fighting.

Yup, destroy a pile of resources...get credit for 1 kill and 10 exp.

well- Their are flaws to every strategy. How could this strat evolve to be more successful.

By the wat-- currently on turn 16-- no kills and no deaths-- my army is growing more powerful every turn.

Your army might be growing more powerfull, but i'm wondering if somebody else, who's got more income, will have a faster growing army.

people are starting to nibble at me alittle bit--- im trying to taunt them into trying an invasion.castle is well fortified. XXXXXXXXX---- has very large army is starting to close in. Will post more when he attacks

I could never play a sleeper strategy. I prefer that my opponents fear me.

Me either, Big...and I don't think it will ever work. I've played in two games in which one player tried to stay out of all conflicts and was easily defeated.
As an example, in one game, the defensive player just kept to his kingdom area, and when it came down to only three other players...one of the three remaining players went in and defeated him fairly easily. The sleeper's armies were all lvl 1...no fighting experience, while the other player had higher lvl, experienced armies. He also had multiple castles and multiple resource bldgs, allowing him to maximize troop production and troop choice, also not forgetting techs and upgrades. The sleeper had to be limited in his production and if not production, at least deployment. A totally defensive player may prolong his game life, but I don't believe, will ever be able to win a game.

Though a sleeper strategy is a strategy after all but i believe it kills the joy and defeats the purpose of playing waronline in the first place.

Oh for sure, all thaqt is true.

Plus I just like to make sure my opponent knows that when my troops roll in, were taking the women, drinking your wine and eating the pigs. I relish the idea that when you see me in your game, you know the last trumpet has blown and the apocolyps is now. The only sleeper strategy you gonna play is the still, sweet, sleep of death as I count the blood spots on the map where your mighty army once stood. So go ahead and use that sleeper strategy, I think it might work.

thank you for the information deadhead, now i know that you have some armie in your castel but you dont have ressources to upgrade your army more faster than me. you will be defeated if you continue the sleeper strategie. i have in the moment 5 goldmines and you??? i dont think your sleeper strategy will have some succes with me and the other experimented player because i go to see every day who is inactive in find player.

A variant on this stratigy is to wait till you have two
castles. Make one a sleeper, and have the other play normal.
While you couldn't get no kills on the score board. A near empty castle is very tempting.
