I believe "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" quote was from either John Chamberlain or Stonewall jackson..

We can rule out Stonewall Jackson who was a Confederate general of the American Civil War as a possibility for saying,
"Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes"
which was said at the battle of Lexington and Concord in the American Revolutionary War by an American as they were waiting for the British to attack.
I don't recall who John Chamberlain is to be honest.

This is probably before the time of most of you but anyway Fred Astaire was a skinny male dancer who starred in dozens of musicals from the 30s through the 50s I guess and his leading lady was a smiling tall long-legged gorgeous blonde named Ginger Rogers.

Anyway I just read a quote that went:
