I believe "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" quote was from either John Chamberlain or Stonewall jackson..

PS: We can rule out Stonewall Jackson who was a Confederate general of the American Civil War as a possibility for saying, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" which was said at the battle of Lexington and Concord in the American Revolutionary War by an American as they were waiting for the British to attack. I don't recall who John Chamberlain is to be honest.

PS:
Wow I almost apologized too:

Also I found that an American Colonial General Putnam said, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" at the battle of Bunker Hill which was part of the battle of Lexington and Concord.
*(edit)*
PPS: I do need to apologize after all because I realise now that The Lix must mean that John Chamberlain was a Northern Civil War general and not Stonewall Jackson as I thought he was correcting me.

Anyway I just read a quote that went: "Just remember that anything Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did backwards and in high heels." She was great.
