In the battles that I have won the only Heavy Cav that was on the field was on the opposing side :p

We should battle sometime. The only ones I've won were ones where I used mass amounts of H.C.

Marks/Mace plus some spear to take the first blow beats all HC set-up!

BlackAdder

Battles: 0 ???

I think the first thing is to start battling before you can/can't loose a battle???

Well spotted gueritol! I think Slackbladder just wanted to make his first post a dynamic one.

If your ranking in battles is zero, then just battle and learn, you can't go any lower!

also if u hid in ur castle with 6 marksmen 7 knights and 1 heavy calvery u could beat them ( buy wat ya want with last 160 points)

hiding in the castle is cheap and I wouldn't recommend it. And you CAN win battles without HC (even with medi).

Usually the main problem I see in other people's set up is too many marks. Actually you could do a mass marks strat, but it's got some holes, even if done properly.

Just start with something balanced, check the troop of the day and you'll be fine.

I cheer when someone stays inside their castle. I tend to use their lack of mobility against them, and take all the liberties of the open map left to me.

So your troops run off and have a picnic in the swamp?

all the opponent needs to beat a mass mark hiding in the castle strat is a ballista, they can just sit out of range and shoot anyone silly enough to stand on the edge!

Oh, and HC are easy to beat in low point games, I rarely take them.. High point games are a different matter though

Marks/Spear strat... well, yes but that's because the new players insist on taking 3 HC and 2 Knights in a 3000 point game, and that can't beat a spear/mark strat as easily as a mace/mark strat (esp. when HC or Knights are totd), and it's imprtant to show new players that a small force in a battle is a bad idea early on (that's showing them early on, not it being a bad idea early on).

Spear/Marks versus an entirely flying army, now that's fun (demi's swooping around, trying to poke an opening to destroy the marksmen, that sorta thing).

I'll stop before I reveal my orphath strategy..
