| Posted : Tuesday, 23 March 2004 - 10:10 Sounds like a sound set-up. But don't worry you'll learn by doing as the rest of us did! And check on what's troop of the day. Since they are DemiLords I would have chose them and no small stuff.... Good luck! |

| Posted : Tuesday, 23 March 2004 - 23:08 as a good rule of thumb, I say never pick wyngerns unless you have some spare points that you don't know what else to spend on. While wyngerns are flying, they really arent much of a match for shaevars. |

And I think everyone has missed the most important thing when choosing a demon force!
NO ORPHATHS!!!

First Know theyself, or somesuch, Sun Tze probably said something about it, anyways, you need to know all the parts to your force. i.e.
Demi-Gods: Ultra powerful, but they attract the enemies attacks a lot, they are also faster than most of the force and can fly. Leading the assault with them can be a bad move, flanks are good places for them (especially as they don't suffer move penalties) and any scouts the enmy has a long way from the main force can be destroyed.
Demon lord: The true power in a demon force against Medi. In terms of points these this are the ultimate against the mass HC of medi forces, they are also powerful against demi-gods (though slower), watch for knights and shaevars, as both can hack them down in decent numbers.
Shaevars: More powerful against demons (where they take down the demon lords, due to their low points), against HC though they get chopped down.
Orphaths: Strengths: Cuteness, Weaknesses: combat ability, offence, defence, speed. An endangered species, only truely evil people take enslaved orphaths along in their army.
Secondly: Know thy enemy, which, if they're demons, is kinda already done in the first bit.
Thirdly: Know thy terrain, or something like that. The grass bit looks better when covered with blood, preferably the opponents, the swamp is good for flanking from the top castle, the snow is good for the bottom, there are certain spots to hide in as well, and defensible positions..
Fourthly: control the battle This involves you springing surprises on the enmy, hit one flank really hard and put token resistance on the other, hold up their big troops while you remove the fodder, swoop in on their range troops etc. When a pair of neehts can hold up a stack of Demon lords for a turn that can make a difference...
And fifthly remove retal with weak stuff! That's what those neehts and squinches are there for!
