Hiding?Anal retentives strategy.Take the castle from one corner so only one mark can attack at a time unless he leaves it.

It's annoying, yes. But it's a genuine tactic. There is a castle on the board, so I don't see any great reason to complain about someone who uses it. But since it's widely regarded to be ineffective, then teach people not to do it by beating them.

Ah, hiding in the castle. Just last night I had to deal with "someone" who did that because "I win this way!" he said. He sent out a couple of cheap pieces which I killed. I was then up on points. He wanted to know why I wasn't attacking! I told him that I was up on points and could just wait for turn 20 to roll around at which point I would win. I moved comfortably far back from his Marksmen and prepared to wait forever if necessary. I hate that tactic! Eventually, after messaging me threats to quit and insults he came out of the castle, knowing his "strategy" had backfired. I had 8 HC waiting for him. We battled, and he was actually doing pretty well at holding me off, but I was always ahead on points. When turn 20 came, the game was over and I won without having to kill all his weasly little men. Try that when the next ostrich hides his head up his castle!!

20 turn limit??? this must be new, I've had three battles over 20 turns that didn't end at that turn.

Well, it does say it is a 20 turn battle, apparently Req fixed something 'cause it worked for me. I was in a battle that went on and on and ended abruptly at turn 20 before we were out of armies (about 2 nights ago).

Ok,but what about if you're being double teamed and you dont have enough troops to come out of your castle? I stayed inside my castle while I was attacked on two sides (they also had a little help from a third player) and not only managed to hold them off,I am now 1st.
I am also hunting one of said double teamers troops back to his castle, the others seem to have gone into their shells as it were...
Surely when you're outnumbered you can still retain your honour by defending your castle?

Scarysquirrel, I think you're talking about campaigns, whereas the topic is battles. In campaigns, it's perfectly honourable to stay in your castle whether outnumbered or not. Of course, if you were talking about 4 player battles, then you'd be right.

In my exp. 4 player battles tend to revolve around destruction rather than survival. I've won a Practice 5 game despite not having any troops, due to wiping out two players and then whittling down half of the third players before he finally killed me.

Of course, if all three other players head for you you'll probably want to stay within the castle area (and benefit from the tower), but generally a nice sally forth into one side ot the other is more profitable (esp. with flying demonics and range troops galour!), plus it's more fun.

Listen. Hiding is okay as long as you have some more tactics involved. I mean you cant just hide all the time can you! You use it along with other ideas!

What other tactics are you talking about Sabs. Surely any other tactic means not hiding, unless you're going to hide half your men while the others get slaughtered. But since you only joined WOL yesterday, I'll let you off. Welcome to the community.

I found it quite ironic as well...

On the topic of hiding, it's not a good idea because (1) it's boring, (2) it can piss your oppenent off and make them waste time (which isn't gonna help you get games with them later), and (3) it can be beaten regularly; it's not a good strat...

Boring is the key here. If you want to get bloody real fast, marching all the way to the other castle takes a long time.

Sorry about the spamming of the clan discussions! I though I explained why i did that somewhere... Hmmm probably not. I posted a challange but after posting it I regretted my one man challange as I did confer with my clanmates so I Bumped all topics above to get my topic down... sorry guys.

Btw on topic again; I thought that hiding in your castle was a "strategy" but not a very succesfull one. Plus it annoys the sh*t out of people. As I posted somewhere before... if they are hiding and in the rankings send them a message that it's ok if they don't want to play cuase you're gonne win anyway! If they are ranked top... send in your artillary and take out enough to get first and the retreat and send the same message as above...
