As is sift through the forums and I find myself in the clan forum for a looksee. I wonder;why clans?

What in this world would make it fun, interesting and worth it for me ?

Argue the point ladies and gentlemen.

DO they hold up under pressure?

The point of a clan is to learn the game better. Clan games are of secondary importance.
And yes, if you join a veteran clan they do hold up. However the same cannot be said about most newbie clans.

Clans are about making friends and playing games where teamwork is the key.

I will have to fully agree with tackedlugnut.
Clan games are the fun part of clans.
Clans are a learning experience.
I will not go as far as to say that my game has dramatically changed, but it has improved quite a bit (I hope ) since I joined FSA.

no argument from me...i agree that clans DO teach you many things because you become friends w/ your clanmates and learn to talk to them like your friends at home, as for the clan games...they are another fun part of the game

It is about sharing your experiences and "tricks" with clanmembers so everybody gets better from it (without fearing they will use it against you some other time). It is about trust, as you know your clanmembers (or should know them) and therefore it is easier to trust them in a campaign battle (although if there is no advantage in allying with your clanmate due to his position on the map why ally, so you are free to chose other allies if an ally at all). And on top of that there is the clan game... which is the most fun (although I only played one untill now...). And playing in a clangame teaches you how others play (in your clan or the enemy) and teaches you what kind of strategies you can deploy....

And if they use it against you, it's all in the family and it is a chance to improve upon.

I have gotten one of my worst defeats (there have been more than I care to remember) on the hands of 1 FSA...so there is nothing better than brotherly rivalry.

Clans are great, IMO...

(1) They give you people to talk to the game about. What works what doesn't work... In general helps everyone in the clan learn the game (and the oppenents) better.

(2) Clan games! They are quite fun. Get to see how good you are at a team game.

(3) Rivalry... If other people in your clan are having success it drives you to try a little harder... I think this might be the reason most of the CoC is ranked quite high in battles.

(4) Know there's someone you can count on in a game. I'm not talking about gang-banging... But it's nice to have friends in the game that will help you out if you're on the receiving end of one...
