My question is:
Which is the best way to protect walls and drawbridge from taking over and/or breaking ?

Thanks

build some towers behind your walls and stick some ballistae in there.

That would be the most obvious answer I think.

Thanks, Gutterfly.
But...how many hex behind the walls ?
If the towers are near the walls, your ranged could fire very deeply, but they could be also hit by enemies towers.
If the towers are more far from the walls, your ranged will be protected, but they have less time to fire on comms coming for taking over.

I think you just need a decent amount of units around the walls to defend with. WIth units AND the wall, you will be much stronger, even if you're outnumbered you will last much longer.

Right now I am in Slow 32 and I have 21 castles out of the total 40. I have a huge wall stretching across the ENTIRE map...it is protected mostly with the flow of ongoing troops from barracks behind the wall. Everytime I capture another castle I try to wall it in. With 2500 commadeers its not too hard to keep a steady string of walls forming. Basically walls won't protect you from everything, but they are strong enough to delay enemy ALOT.

unless they simply bring in a lot of range at one single point of the wall, overpower the range you have there, simply move in some comms, takeover the wall, and go on through.

Yeah, I don't see how you can possibly defend an wall stretching across the entire map. I could just walk up to a poorly defended portion of it, wipe out any troops behind with some ranged, and take it over with my comms. I think you're wasting your time building so much.

It must look pretty cool though.

If you own that much of the map, I don't think you even need to be thinking about defence anyway.

Well not necessarily....he owns half the map....it doesnt mean everyone wont go up against him together......gotta protect the lands man.
