I've had some thoughts on this, especially since I've had several requests to have no ads for members.

So... how about something like this?


Silver Membership...
One time "Donation". Anything over $10US means you are a Silver Member for life. This will grant you 1 or 2 more games, and perhaps some extra features later
However, all ads will remain.


Gold Membership...
A monthly subscription. Something like $20US per 6months.
This will grant you 3+ extra games, extra features AND no ads anywhere for the duration of the subscription.
Once the subscription runs out, you go back to Silver Membership status.
The actual cost has to be calculated to cover ad-revenue losses and also be cheap for you guys.


Platinum Membership...
A lifetime subscription. Not sure of the price here, but basically the same as Gold membership except it never runs out, and you have unlimited games.


Any thoughts?

Edit - Oh, and current donations would be used as Credit for the above model. So current Gold Members would remain Gold Members for the subscription length.

I don't think I would sign up until those "extra features" got a little more specific

Sounds good as a concept Req. I was 100% for it until I read Sage's post. (No he didn't talk me out of it.)

It probably would be good for me to know what I would be paying for before I agree to it completely. (I usually get stuck on used cars for some reason...hmmmmm?!?) If you are trying to gauge interest, sign me up in the plus column. I really do love this game and would likely be interested in the gold or platinum membership.

I think we can still consider our gaming here a bargain at $40 a year.

ok this may seem a bit stupid or something but why don't you try (using the waronline game as a basis) to make a game engine for other sites, you could sell it to them or make them pay a monthly fee....just thoughts for an alternative for adds.

it could make it easer for updating units and ect..

lets see here I pay $7 a month currently for my online games so if you can get sivler membership at $5 per month and gold at $10 then I'm hooked.

How will we without cc`s be able to pay?

well req needs an estimate of how many people are willing to pay to make a budget and divide it within that amount so the more who pay the less the amount would probably be but i assume req can probably make it 5per month since he said maybe 20 for 6 and 5 per month can be for 4 months so more income....

That makes sence until people figure out about free popup blockers, so they are just paying for the extra game or two anyways...

So how would this be any different?

i assume its the special features maybe special troop u can upgrade to? 4th tier of super troops?flaming archers?horsemen?

I guess it would depend on what the additional features were.. but it would not usually be considered wise to give paying members additional troops, unless they could only play against other paying members.

why wouldnt it be wise? disadvantage? well u just have to watch out not to join games with member i guess or just beat them with what u have? cause if u divide it will be harder to get a game going then...

Because for people who don't desire to play the game for pay, will just simply not play... And thus you would be a risk of losing even established players, who would no longer be on a even keel with paying members.

More importantly it is important to provide a way to pay for those who dont have a credit card ,I know there are many including myself. 0% of $20.00 = $00.00
There must be another way of paying some of my hard earned money to this great game.
