Don't matter what just as long as they are not yours. dont pike have a bonus against its rival? I prefer knights against hc. SMACK away! knights against HC? sure you get that first hit in, but when that HC retals your unit is gonna be feeling it in the morn... you loose about 10 knights in reg games in just a single hit, when at best you kill 4-5 HC... the HC will always pull ahead. specially cause when the HC power owns the Knight the bonus damage that wasnt inflicted (anything over 1k) will help lower its damage taken in the retal.... leaving you reeling in pain and little damage done.... so i cant condone knights at all no sir no sir i can not. lots and lots of macemen and pikemen(I think there should be somthing to be able to stop HC but im just to lazy to put a note in the suggestion box)but really it has to be a combo of mace and marks. Ranged are the bane of a HC's existance! mmm...not really, one of the uses of calvery is to chop down any ranged units before they can fire but if properly protected they can be deverstating against HC. link.... *rubs his neck and trys not to throttle the poor boy* ... you never allow any melee unit to come near your ranged man.... you use Zone of Control to keep units from touching them... .while using your ranged to devistate the enemy.... ranged are the best way to kill HC as you dont take any massive retaliatory strike... use your melee to defend your ranged and shoot them down... a stack of 20 takes about 4 shots (if you have stacks that do 1k damage in reg games) ballista, mace and lots of them!!! Marksmen backed by large stacks of comms protected by forest/mountains with mace protecting the gaps.... well... balista usually can shoot from further away =P personally i like as much space between me and death. but ya marks are better, more attack, no range penalty. Mace is the logical choice. Of course backed by Marks would be nice too. after playing around on the combat simulator, you would need around 3X as many mace as HC for defending.... and HC almost cost 3X as much so.... I'll tell you what's good against HC, a scout retal attack, then 4 HC on one! Plus a bunch of arrows in the keister.
