The 1000 pop bug is being used again. Is it possible to post on the news page, and maybe some of the others, that any player using the 1000 pop bug will have their game deleted. Using it a second time will result in their account being deleted. This bug isn't a minor issue it is major one.

It is well known by many of the players but there are some who don't know about it, and there are some who do, who might be trying to take advantage of it.

I know it is stated that this is something that wont be fixed until the new version, but we need a way to take away a players claim that they didn't know.

Just for clarity's sake, a 1000+ pop unit takes no damage, right?

I've never used one, but from what I've gathered, they are pretty much invincible.

They also get multiple attacks from what I heard. In the combat pop-up it shows that troops die but they don't.

I tried it. Took me 30 turns just to create a stack of 1000 scouts. Now when attacking a unit it uses a fraction of the BP to make a full attack. So you can make up to 5 attacks dependant on your enemy. Now in each attack I suffered a loss, the first being 12 scouts that weren't deducted from the total size, and the rest less than 1.

Now before you say 'hey your game should be deleted', or 'foul play' the game I'm refering to is over and I only used them on randoms of a player who went inactive. Also being a beta tester I find that it is our duty to test the bugs to see what exactly happens.

Well, since the new version has pop limits, i've been seriously considering putting them in place here as well as a transition, and to also stop any 1000 pop bugs, and other such large army imbalances.

i was just going to make a flat 100 pop max for any army for any troop.

any thoughts?

Part of the enjoyment of a Skirmish game is making the oversized armies. Im currently using ballista over marksmen, only for the 1 hex of extra range. If 100 pop were the limit, I wouldnt bother making them at all ... probably would skip right to marksmen.

I agree the 1000+ pop bug should be eliminated, but I would hope the limit would be as high as 400 - 500 pop.

I think the "pop limit" should vary for the various units.

PS:
I think the proportions of strength divisions between the various levels of troops should remain and not be allowed to be overcome by numbers but rather within the divisions give enough numbers to maintain the "rock, paper, scissor" advantage (i.e. e.g. there should always be enough scouts at full pop to defeat swordsmen at full pop and enough spearmen at full pop to defeat scouts at full pop);

but not enough scouts should be allowed to defeat squires at full pop yet I think enough scouts at full pop should be allowed to defeat ballista at full pop;
So for example possibly 300 scouts would be equal to 100 squires but 300 scouts would defeat 200 ballista.

I know my numbers are not accurate but I'm just trying to convey my thoughts.

maybe there ought to be no pop limit for skirmishes?

Set the pop limit to 999, there no problem for anybody.

I think anything over 1000 damage is a waste of ZOC and options ... of course if your in skirm, then let there be no clipping on damage!!!

I have nothing against pop limits, but you have to take into account the skirmish games.

Req instead of a notice for the one bug, set up a link that can be put on every page in the forums and on your page when you click my games. This link will list the known bugs and this will take away any claim a player has to not knowing about a common bug.

There should also be some serious punishment if players abuse a bug either knowingly or by continued use before reporting it.

Seems to me the 999 limit makes perfect sense.

Bump, plus why not not just fix the bug and forget about limits? How many players want a 1000 pop troop anyway? I'd rather have ten 100 pop troops, myself.
