However, I do like the idea of added MP for the really small stacks (ie 5 pop scouts). 1 or 2 more MP would be a nice addition.

I still think this concept (or something along this lines) holds some value in making the use of smaller/medium sized stacks viable in a more and more big stack dominated system.
And it is not the idea of using smaller/medium sized stacks that is attracting me to the concept, it is the idea of balance of the game, which is escential to any and all good games.
When you start to notice that everybody is operating or playing in a simmilar way, that means that the mechanics of the game are biased towards that specific modus-operandis.
If there is only one viable way to win (and of course I don't mean destroy the enemy, because that is not the way to win, it is the victory condition), then the game becomes predictable, the more ways to achieve victory there are available the more strategy rich the game play will be.

movement points during combat are already high IMO.
Who wants to see Scouts move more than 13 sqrs in 1 turn?? Its crazy. Whats the point of formations? If troops can move such a large distance in 1 turn, in combat at least, it makes the tactics in combat so less important. You could even have troops out of visual range, and in 1 turn have your troops killing someones ranged troops.
the Mobility penalty here only applies to LARGE armies. you dont HAVE to use 400+ troop armies.
the whole idea is to make you choose between smaller and larger armies, as each should have a balanced possitive and negative. | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
