Every turn you don't, you lose an extra 1k. Therefore, whatever you're delaying for, has to be worth at least 1k

Linner it is tax reform (as from a tech dependant on the market), not the tax tech as the one dependant on the castle.

It is impossible to have in the 1st turn.

You don't get the market techs when you take over a Market Place.

Yes, but you can save on the market research, and the market, by executing a hostile takeover of someone else efforts, and once you have a market, you can do the tech upgrades.

Saving a few precious resources.

get as much gold as you can at the start, it is more inportant than anything else at the start.

well it really is as important as possible...but then the whole tax reform...well in reality it always depends on the situation...

gueritol, unless you take over the opponents marketplace QUICKLY (and I mean REALLY quickly) you'll be losing out. Having tax reform early really, really helps.

You would have to get that marketplace effectively 3/4 turns sooner than you'd buy commerce and get your market. If you can't assure you'll get it that quick - build your own

But lately there has been but 1 game that I haven't been on war since turn 5, and only beacuse it was a maze map
