| Posted : Monday, 29 November 2004 - 11:03 I have openned a free "yahoo account" at "geocities" So I have a "yahoo e-mail address" and I have a "Url to a home page" I think. I also think I have learned how to send a message with attachments from within my "yahoo e-mail". I did manage to send the maps to my "yahoo e-mail address" using my "msn e-mail address" but it had my real name in the sender field and I prefer that information to remain private so I deleted it.
Anyway I have a couple of "map images" that I would like to display in "Suggestions" and I am unable to determine how to use the information I have provided above to provide a link so that they can be displayed. I have sent "screen shots" successfully to an "e-mail address" provided by a friend. Can someone please explain to me how to use my "geocities yahoo account" to allow display of these map images I have in suggestions?

| Posted : Monday, 29 November 2004 - 11:49 PS: I don't have time to experiment now but I think I'm onto a solution. I didn't understand before how to get an image to my "free web page" which page I can provide a "URL" to access but now I realize that there are "link fields" on the page that I just left "as is" with the "default links". When I get back home later I'll experiment to see if I can load my images into one of those links.
I'm almost positive that must be how it's done because any other way I think would amount to just using my "e-mail address" to provide a link.

| Posted : Monday, 29 November 2004 - 20:34 Well I have uploaded the two map images into a "subdirectory" named "artwork" as "jpg files" and I have named a link "artwork" on my "webpage", but as I suspected when I click on the link I get that the page can't display because of course something is missing in between the "subdirectory" and the "link".
The two images are definitely in the subdirectory So it must be that the path from the link to the subdirectory is not defined properly but I can't find the "questions/answers" that solve the problem for me. In other words I'm "stumped" for now anyway.

| Posted : Tuesday, 30 November 2004 - 17:51 Are you generating your own HTML tags or is geocities creating all the links for you? If you are writing your own your image reference should be along the lines of <img src = "[subdirectory name]/image.jpg">
If geociticies is creating the image links then presumably it is asking you for a file name at the time? Just add the [subdirectory name]/ to the image file name.
You also have the alternative of using screensharing.waronliner.com to post your images. Open you've uploaded the image copy the URL to email/PM/whatever for whoever you need to share with - or get them to create a screensharing account so you can tag them as recipients for the image. | Posted : Tuesday, 30 November 2004 - 19:35 Yes thanks "Fanatic" I'm using a "predesigned page" that allows me to insert an "image file" into a field and yes I imagine that the necessary code is "auto-generated". I think I understand what you mean about inserting the subdirectory into the field instead but I'm not sure if my subdirectory is named properly and I don't quite understand what I would accomplish by doing that because I'm a novice at this and these "internet procedures" all seem to start somewhere in the middle.
Anyway yes I have to learn how to generate "html code" to do it myself and it will be a while. Your post does help but this is quite new to me. Thanks again but for now I'm happy I was able to get one at a time posted. I'll keep trying but I can't guarantee I'll be able to do better.
