I think in either my last game or the game before, after I trained "squires" in a barracks and also later "macemen" both "squires" and "pikemen" were available to be produced for that barracks and then after training for "macemen" both "macemen" and "falchs" were available to be produced by that barracks.

PS:
It's just that there have been so many changes that it just didn't "dawn on me" that it might be a bug. I honestly thought that I had overlooked a bonus in the past.

I've never seen it....always had to assign and learn EACH troop within the upgrade.

Recently, during the last training bug, if you assigned a troop, it was learned at the next tick...of course, REQ has fixed that.

Well "sugar"
I am fairly certain that this did occur but I can't recall if it was last game I was in or the game I was in with "Zeus" and "NC" before that. I just apologize because it just didn't come to my mind that it was a "bug".
It was after the last server problem I think. People had been complaining of several weird occurrences but this was a few weeks after that.

It was a matter of my "daydreaming" (i.e. not playing often enough and being tired because of a difficult summer around my house). I even misqued on when my NAP was supposed to be over with "NC" and he caught me "still napping".

TR...
I wasn't saying you didn't 'experience' a possible bug...only said "I've never seen it".

I've always had to learn each and every troop before training...but perhaps someone else has experienced this and would like to comment.

I suspect this may be a feature because I just assigned ballista to a barracks that I built that was producing Marksmen without ever having produced anything else and the ballista being a lower level ranged unit than the Marksmen went directly into production without a training turn.
Could it be that equal level or lower level units don't require a training turn or is this truly a bug?

PS:
Here is my final thought on this:
if this is a "bug", it seems to be associated with barracks that are built rather than the barracks that come with the castle because I went to producing "pikemen" in a barracks where I had been building "macemen" but which barracks was NOT one that I had built;
and the result was that a turn of production was lost due to having to first train the "pikemen".

So in conclusion my previous thought that it might be a feature that lesser level troops may be considered already trained does NOT seem to be valid (i.e. at least in the barracks that comes with the castle).

PPS:
So is this a bug or isn't it?
I'm getting this on a regular basis as I said with new barracks that I have built. I am being allowed to go to another assigned unit even after the first free assigned unit without waiting a training turn.
