I want to have a Battle League, like the Sumo Slam Tournament, but with regular battles, not AutoBattles.

I think 20 players should do it. However, there are going to be some conditions on this that I realized I needed as the Sumo Slam went on.

I'll use this as a sign-up thread. That way, if you hate the living guts out of other players, don't join. When we get 20 players signed up, that's it.

Don't join if you don't really have the time or inclination to battle. If you don't fight at least once a week you will be dropped. This is flexible if you are going to be gone for a week, but not for months. I don't enjoy doing the work of dropping people, so please be sure you want in. Alternates will be able to take your spot (after 20 sign-ups, additional ones will be alternates).

Now, about the League. I call it a League because Requiem said that was what the Sumo Slam Tournament really was, a League. Sounds good to me. In addition to the glory, it allows many people to get in some battle time. As with the Sumo Slam, everyone should battle everyone else. Stats will be kept!

These are Battles, not Autos, so no one under rank 10 can join. You will be able to choose any pieces you like, no warnings. In other words, you may fight Demons or Medieval and so can your opponent. No telling in advance! In real life you never know what you are going to be facing, so why here? Keeps the sissies out, I say! It should also make for some rather interesting choices of pieces!!

Force turns will be perfectly acceptable. Exceptions: if you want to be nice and were told it would be a long turn. Computer crashed? Better boot quick!

Any tactics are fine. Want to stay in your castle and get shot to crud? Go ahead! Want to force your opponent onto a bad hex arrangement and you'll never, ever move out of it? Go right ahead! It's WAR, pal. Be a punk. Just don't be annoying. For instance, running one guy all the way back in the corner after you have obviously lost. That is not acceptable behavior, as I see it. Use your judgement and try to be honorable.

Pick any map or size of battle. This has to be worked out between the two opponents and no one else.

This thread will serve as the only conduit to the League, I didn't like having two threads before, it made scorekeeping a nightmare. When you win a game, you post it here. Also, don't ask me to update the scoresheet when you win, I'll see it here and get to it more or less daily.


I'd appreciate it if there were no name-calling, whining in the thread and so on, as well. If a dispute arises, tell me in a private message and my word will be law. I know we are a contentious lot and I expect there will be some disputes, that's OK, but let's keep it private. I want this to be fun fun fun, not bum bum bum!

I may post more rules, regulations, taxes, fines, penalties, easements, levies, torts or spam if I think I should.

So, serious battlers of all sorts please sign up for the Battle League and we will have a slew of battles, points won and lost, many fingernails bitten and countless bloody spots to walk gingerly around.

I'd join, except for the "go ahead and choose demonic or medieval, you don't have to tell, just go ahead" thing.

That's stupid, since you have to pick completely different troops to go against demonic than you do against medieval. The entire battle could be decided on a coin flip.

Uh, Sage, you have to pick troops that would work against either class, I guess. It is possible. Also, use the troop of the day for extra oomph! If you suspect the opponent to be using Demons, get the right Medieval troops and you'll win. However, I wouldn't want to force anything on you, so don't join, see if I care! Wheeee! I don't care WHO joins, it's just for massive battling fun.

(Unless you just aren't MOG enough, eh, Sage?)

We have a few early signups, very nice! I think we should wait for a full contingent to begin so we all know who is playing. If you want to drop out before the start, that's ok.

Um...no, Moggy, you really have to pick troops based on what race your opponent is. That is, if you want to use medieval. Demonics...just make sure you can beat another demonic strat, and you can usually beat a medieval one too.

*shrugs* I guess I won't be in it. Too much dependent on luck.

Sage, you answered yourself. You could always go demons! Much as I expect certain others will as well. However, they CAN be beaten by medieval, sooooooo...it's more fun not knowing, I think.

I'd be sorry if Wol's best don't play, and you are one of them.

why not do another auto battle too with level ranges one 1-50 and the other 51 and up this way we can get multi games going?

I don't want to do that much work. I could do those when this one is over, though, good idea.

You'd be kinda silly to pick medieval under this setup...sure, demonic CAN be beaten by medieval, but it's difficult, and why force yourself to fight an uphill battle?

Well, let me ask the folks who have signed up, would you prefer that we do it Sage's way? In other words, not allow free choice of class, but have the combatants choose between them what they will use? I can go either way, Sage's argument has merit. I think it would be interesting the way I proposed but it could devolve into a pure demon league which I don't really want.

Put in your thoughts on this one, folks, we haven't started yet so the rules are still changeable.

I would have no problem allowing the competitors to use any setup...medi vs medi, dem vs dem, medi vs dem...it's just that you have to know BEFOREHAND that way you can tailor your strategy to it.

As for "in real war you don't know what you're facing!"...I have to say that you usually at least have the idea what SPECIES they are
