I didn't realize that drawbridges were able to be attacked by balis. Has this always been the case? I figured they would be classified like walls and only be able to be hit with cats.

They were in the game I am currently in. My defend message is gone, but read something like...

Your 'drawbridge' was attacked by 'balista 1'. Drawbridge sustained xxx amount of damage.

Your 'drawbridge' was attacked by 'balista 2'. Drawbridge sustained xxx amount of damage.

Your 'drawbridge' was attacked by 'balista 3'. Drawbridge sustained xxx amount of damage.

Your 'drawbridge' was attacked by 'balista 4'. Drawbridge sustained xxx amount of damage.

One turn almost wiped it out! That's why I was asking about it...I had never encountered or heard about that before.

Ahhh...so that's it!

No, it had been completed, but the turn before it had been attacked by melee units, causing it damage, and the dreaded 'wrench' to be active over it. That must be it

but...as long as u don't try to repair it,(even if it's down to 5%). range troops can't attack it as long as u don't try to repair it, only ground troops.

The 'wrench' appears only while a building is in the process of 'construction', and will not appear if a 'completed' building is currently being attacked or previously damaged in attacks (the building will only show reduced health). The one exception to that is a resource building, ie; one that has been attacked AND destroyed and is regenerating the five turns.
So, if no bugs are at play...your building is subject to ranged attack IF not completed. Additionally, ANY building under attack (by either, ranged or melee), can not be repaired. In my experience, it can take as many as two turns with no attacks against a building before a comm will have the 'repair' option.

Well, it definitely had the wrench over it, so apparently I was mistaken about having completed it. It was attacked by melee the same time I built it, and I must have assumed it had been completed, then damaged by the attack. You know what they say about assuming something!

Apparently it must only have been 90% or so completed the turn I built it, and now it all makes sense. Excellent strategy by my opponent for understanding the situation/rules and utilizing his ranged as such!

Thanks, guys, for all the info....still learning here, and this thread is just another example

I'll leave it open a day or two more to see if anyone else wants to make any comments before closing it.

Thanks again!
