All right a lot of people are talking about the lack of players and how new players don't stay around. While many of the existing players are willing to help they don't come off that way in the forums. I've been guilty of it myself.

So heres my sugestion a 2 player training campaign. It would be unranked and it would allow 1 player under level 20 and one player level 20 or higher. As the whole purpose of this campaign is to help train a new player it could be for a set amount of turns, 50-60. Also the whole map should be viewable by both players, that way the experienced player could offer advice while the new player could ask questions.

The advantages a new player can get into a game quickly, they wont have to wait and possibly lose interest in the meantime. Also it would give established players a chance to practice new strategies giving a pay off to both groups.

There is a lot of room for refinement here so please add your oppinion.

I like the idea Genghis.

But i would add the possibility of the newbie choosing to "show" or not the whole map, if he wanted to ask an opinion about best strategies.

Though a whole visible map... would force the newbie to adapt rapidly, no "surprise" effects and i would wager if the newbie turned to be a "good" player, a very defensive game.

A partial visible map, for the newbie only, would "stress" the "teacher" to the limit, while the newbie would see how the teacher react to different approaches and so on. It would be quite an unfair game, but perhaps even so... be a match for a "teacher" player, and a training course for the newbie.

What do you all think about it?

I like the idea of this, and think the possitive aspects are quite obvious. I do prefer iz's idea of having the map only be fully open to the 'student', while the map is normal for the 'teacher'. I think that kind of levels the playing field a little, perhaps even allowing for an upset or two occassionally

I'm not sure it will happen, though, because I seem to remember having read in another thread that Req will have some kind of 1 vs.1 training camps in the next version.

Definitely a good idea though Ghengis

i think this game should be unranked so that the map can be seen by both the teacher and the 'student' i really like this idea but req shouldn't make it count like a campaign so lets say everybody can play 3 campaign + 1 or 2 teacher thingys

Thanks Hanky

If you read in my suggestion it is supposed to be unranked.

I do appreciate you adding in the part I forgot to say, which is, it wouldn't count as one of the regular games so experienced players wouldn't have to give up a regular game to help teach new players.

The open map isn't to give one player an advantage over the other. It is to allow the new player to see how the experienced player does things and to allow the experienced player to provide advice to the new player. But it might work to allow the new player the visibilty while the experienced player works blind. That would definitely require the experienced player to know how to use troop movement.

Maybe it would also be a good idea for both players to see each other's teach advancements also.
