I think a morale meter might be a good addition to WOL. perhaps when an army stays idle too long or has battled too frequently (like maybe 15 turns consecutively??) then the morale drops. If morale is low a damage penalty is given. If it drops bellow zero then the army becomes a sort of more agressive barbarian (the current barbarians don't really bother you if you leave them alone but these rebellious troops would attack anyone and everyone and would no longer be controlled by the owning player). I'm not sure what sort of scale to put this meter on but I think this is a good idea.

i belive this is a very good idea although instead of your army morale dropping after a certain amount of battles it should drop or increase on how much damage you do and how much you take or if you lose to or defeat a stack of troops?? yes or no

I thought there might be a problem with the turn based meter. Your meter based on damage sounds much better (and much more difficult to control) I can imagine having to kill one of my armies with another just to keep morale high LOL (can you destroy your own army in this version?)

You can disband an army.

Troops acting on their own would involve artificial intelligence and Req isn't gonna do that, certainly not in this version. He's working on a new version of the game and just patching this game as needed. Keep that in mind when you make suggestions about this version, only really do-able stuff is going to be considered I believe. For instance, the one that I suggested that actually happened was the list of who you battled on the "My Games" page. I asked, it happened! Woo woo! It wasn't too hard to do so he did it.

I'm not saying to stop making suggestions, but bear in mind that ome may not get implemented until a new version arrives, if at all.

i like the morale issue, but instead of "roaming" rebel units, why not a morale check, similar to what was said before.

And if failed THEN the unit would "break cohesion" and "flee" some squares where it would or "recover" or turn "rebel" (deserting). Or even to simplify all this, if it failed it's morale check, it would dissolve the unit, returning the remaining soldiers to the nearest compatible barracks.

What do you all think?

I like that up to a point, iz.

I think you'd have to lag their return to the barracks by how far away it is. And perhaps the farther it is, the smaller the percentage of armies that actually make it.

I have a good example of where morale should have disbanded an army -- I accidently moved a spearman unit up to a squire unit and attacked, thinking at the time it was a swordsman unit I was attacking with. I expected to lose about 50% of my forces and ended up losing about 95% because of the RPS disadvantage. As far as I'm concerned, the remaining 5% should have disbanded immediately, been running like hell, cursing their commander as a blasted idiot the whole time...but I don't think any would be dumb enough to return to a barracks for redeployment.

well after failing a morele check it could pass another "test"... like does it regroup in the barracks or simply disbands? or even only a percentage could regroup just to ease things up

We are subject to morale influence already. We control the armies and their morale. A gangbang shows this all too painfully.
