| Posted : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 14:02 Been trying to open beginners 50 map since 2:00am my time. All I get are the popup ads, remove building button, notice that I do have a palisade, and the "loading" bar. have the firewall off, and popup blocker accepting this site.
Update: just tried the remove building button, It works, now have rubble, but the loading bar is still there as it has been. Last Edited : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 17:09 | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
| Posted : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 17:40 Here's a few things to try:
a) Try allowing "popups" for this site.
b) Try logging out and then going back to your homepage, and then in the address field type " waronline.net/main.asp " (i.e. without the " h t t p : / / " and of course without the quotes) and then click the "go arrow". Of course log into the site again and retry to enter the game and open the map.
c) Another thing that works for me is to select to open the map and then select to open a few of the other game pages like the troop management page, the game news, and then maybe the tech page. I can't explain why but it seems to "kickstart" the map to open. The only problem is that I have to keep doing it that way. Right now I'm not in a game so I'm not sure exactly how I will get the map to open either but I have always managed to get it to open somehow.

| Posted : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 20:05 Berserk it sounds like the map page is opening but just not downloading.
When you open the map page if there is a white screen, where the map should be, try right clicking with your mouse in the white and then choosing refresh. | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
| Posted : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 20:56 I'm forgetting a step ... when you try "b)" above and you arrive at the waronline site after clicking the "go arrow", you will find that the " h t t p : / / " has been automatically added anyway; So next before you log into the site, erase the " h t t p : / / " and then do a REFRESH and you should then see that " waronline.net/main.asp " without the quotes is now in the URL field; So now you can log into the site and hopefully the map should open for you.
There is an old thread that I closed under "Bug Reports" that I wish I hadn't closed. You can find it by searching "temp files" under "Bug Reports". I think it is "Map is not Openning" It was also recommended to "delete the temp files" but I didn't find it necessary to do that and although I think it is safe to do that I assume no responsibility for advising that.
PS: Requiem has given this advive that follows for a solution in that thread: Requiem [R] FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=Gold Member"

Perhaps its those using www.waronline.net/ as the URL.
Try logging out, closing all windows, clear temp files, then log back into waronline.net/main.asp
No WWW
Does that help?

| Posted : Saturday, 23 April 2005 - 22:13 LOD and GK may have found alternate easier solutions to this problem but I haven't as yet other than as I have given. Many of us have had this problem though and it seems to always get asked when we have new folks join.
The two posts that follow are also from that old closed thread "Map is not Openning" that I mentioned and are in answer to Req's question in my last post, "Does that help?"

| Posted : Sunday, 24 April 2005 - 00:07 Thanks for the advice. I did find an workable solution, running the game on the AOL browser rather than IE6. This will have to do until I get it to run on IE. Will let you know when I do. | |
