I've noticed that I spend alot of time looking at the Who's Online page. In fact it is the first link on the site that I go to after arriving at waronline.net/main.asp (which is my saved URL). After that I make my moves and go to the forums through the link at that page.

How about a mpogd link there next to "waronline.net IRC server & #waronline channel"? with mpogd in capital letters?

This suggestion is based on purely my own experience so I don't know the habits of other players. It would make sense if the mpogd link is placed on the most frequented page on the site. Yes it is placed on the side bar, but I admit that I rarely look there and forget to vote(even though I want to!) most of the time.

Comments?

Oh oh oh! Can the database register if a user has clicked a link in the past 24 hrs(I think yes hehe)? If so, next to the MPOGD link have something like " You have not voted today" Or if the user has clicked that link have it say " Thank You for your vote, your support is appreciated" Or something along those lines? Yes?

I was in chat with Req a while back and he seemed to indicate that there is only so much that MPOGD will allow a game to do to advertise the voting. I could be wrong, it's a great idea, can we hear from the Reqmeister?

Well we can try it. And if mpogd complains then Reqy can always remove that, yes? After all, communication resolves all differences :p BTW, MPOGD prohibits voting multiple times (by the same person) on the same day, yet they don't enforce that very well do they (unless ofcourse that site is consistently #1 or near then they probably investigate).

I also think we should concentrate on MPOGD as our main source of new players, at least until we have a larger player base. I could be wrong but I get the idea Top200 and GDex do not bring nearly as many players as MPOGD. Do the site's stats agree with me Req? And btw the gamesonline link is not active. Perhaps some people see all those voting choices and don't vote at all?

Well one thing I didn't used to like was having to open the screen and then scroll down to find the VOTE button, but recently both of those problems have been alleviated because the page seems to always get openned full screen now and only the top 5 are displayed so the VOTE button is always visible now also ...
not sure if not seeing "waronline.net" among the top 10 on the front page on occassion is so great though.

PS:
I seem to find links to:

all over the place now.

The MPOGD link needs to be on the game window, or better yet the map screen itself. This is one reason Space got the #1 spot, in addition to offering 2 extra turns for voting (it's a turn based game with around 300 players per game, with at least 3 games running). Which brings up the other part of our problem here, as those players are rewarded for voting. The only incentive for voting other than the fact that WOL is a better game and more fun to play, that I can think of is to make voting manditory to enter a game. I have no trouble with this myself, but I know others wouldn't like it.
