That is the only true Bug that exists in WOL.

It's not technology malfunction, it's not games un-ending, it's nothing of the sort.

Requiem has got a life and as this game's creator and administrator, this is the only true and serious bug. The 'Mother of all Bugs' if you will.

Of course it doesn't help that Req's life is spent consuming copious amounts of beer or doing chores for Mrs.Req but "That's life!".

I just wrote to Mr. " I got a life" about the serious crud going on. He mentioned in IRC recently that he had made it possible for this game to have an administrator. Or more than one, possibly. Perhaps we need to take him up on that. The admin could unstick games, change piece's characteristics, etc.

that would be cool, it would definetly help him out a lot.

what about having a greeter to greet all new members and to make them feel welcome??? (i would gladly do that, i usually welcome them when they join anyway )

Mog, you know how I feel about this admin thingy...

It was my idea that you'd become the administrator for certain things (!), and I would also support you for more general administration duties. However, it might be that we need someone who can do a bit of bug fixing and maybe even code... and it would also go without saying that it would have to be a calm person... which rules out 99.9% of WOL's members. (There's no need to start naming people as Req will probably make his own mind up)

There's also no need to start appointing ministers/secretaries of Greetings, Finance, Foreign Affairs or Home Coming Ball Decorating Committee. titonator, if you make the effort to greet new people then Bless You, for a wonderful job. Many of us do that and credit is due to everyone who does.

IMHO Req should appoint a lieutenant who could help him out sorting the current wave of bugs and future issues. This would also allow Req to give extra time to WoK. If however Req decides not to do that and keep things running in their current course, that is his complete prerogative.

As you said, you do that anyway, and I don't think there is a need for an "official" title. We should also do more of this as a community (but that's just MY bias).

As for added help, it seems logical as the game grows that the task would become more than a 1 man job (actually it seems larger than that now). We ALL have real lives and responsibilities, and no one should be faulted for that, or for opting for "real life" commitments rather than WoL. However, shouldn't there be someone to pick up the slack when real life intervenes?

Well, I've always been trying to think of ways to help out Req. Everytime someone brings up the idea of moderators for the forums, I've always hopped right up and volunteered. Req has never gone through with any of these ideas yet, but if he does, I would be glad to help.
I also have a good amount of coding experience with JAVA and C++. I've never worked with flash though, so I don't know how much help I would be there
Anywho, Req, if you need someone to help, I'm here

I've been keeping quiet about this, Req made me moderator of the forums about a month ago. He wants to be sure that no one is abusive or using foul language. I don't have authority over Notices or Suggestions, but I can delete, edit or kill a thread.

So far, there hasn't been any reason for me to use these abilities. We have been a group of very well-mannered folks. I would only delete the most offensive posts. I believe in freedom of speech for any political viewpoint and I wouldn't ever censor any such threads.

As to an administrator, we need one. The Autobattles are staying unavailable and that means no new players can battle. This will drive away otherwise keen individuals and it has to get fixed real soon. I think an admin would be able to fix that.

The inability to eliminate players, or quit games is another horrible aspect of this problem. I wrote to Req last night and I hope he gets on it, life or not. We put in a lot of effort to build this site as Beta testers, asking folks to vote, cajoling our friends to join, etc. and we need to have a working site when they join!

The forums are in bad need of a moderator or two. At one time, a number of senior players would police all the forums and remind players of their proper use, staying on topic, eliminating unneccesary posts like smiley faces and 'bumps', and any other spamming.

Morbius was one player that I recall...he didn't have any 'official' authorization, but made efforts to improve the forums and provided instruction to new players of their proper use(in a friendly but straight forward manner).

Any player(s) selected for this duty should at least be responsible and set an example by his own posts and not be a notorious spammer.

There's a few current players, (and I'm not talking about new players, either) that seem to be only seeking attention and player popularity by constantly spamming and posting off topic comments in the forums.

A moderator(s) needed?...yes, AND one that'll do the job right!

moderator would be good to have around and admins on WOL would be a great help to req, that way WoK would come out even sooner than said in another thread

I think anybody who feels called upon to police the forums can do so. Asking spammers to lay off, warning folks about poor behavior, etc. I guess what I see as my job as moderator is to delete really offensive posts. I will also warn miscreants.

Really, the forums seem to have a mix of silly threads, serious threads and spam threads. Some people like the silly, spammy threads and others don't. Only a portion of Wol looks at the forums. I hope I can do a good job.

I know you will do a great job, Mog. It is a good thing for us to do since Req is here less frequently and personal wars or inapppropriate language can crop up that are not proper for all to view.
