| Posted : Monday, 23 May 2005 - 06:25 Can castles be built?
I'm in a game, where i was attacking a player, when he suddenly disapeared (quitted certainly), the thing was... his cattle vanished (and if i'm not mistaken i had already troops inside his castle).
I understand the reason to "demolish" quitters' castles, but can one "rebuild" them? |

| Posted : Monday, 23 May 2005 - 10:16 you cannot build castles, but if you see an empty castle square, you can take it with your commandeers, and it will work like a castle, i.e. give income, and allow an additional active barrack | | Coopels Joined 29/01/2005 Posts : 44
| Posted : Monday, 23 May 2005 - 23:20 and if there is an empty castle you could rebuild everything in the castle if you wanted to i.e. the walls, barracks, and towers | | iznogoud Joined 23/11/2004 Posts : 139
| Posted : Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 05:15 Well from the answers that i'm getting here, i see that it IS possible to "build" castles.
'cause IF one can "take over" an empty/razed castle, and it WILL provide income + allow for an aditional barrack as simon1 said, i just need to create any defences as i see fit as was said by coopels, IF i really need the "regular" apparatus of a castle.
My original question, was more into, if one could "recover" a razed castle, then finding a nice spot and building an entirely new one. My apologies if it wasn't well stated. And thanks for the answers so far. | | Mog Joined 5/02/2004 Posts : 2663

| Posted : Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 07:59 Izno, I know you have a sense of humor So I'm going to try to joke with you and I hope we can laugh together. In America we have a saying from one of our presidents that is: "you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time"; and I'm not usually one of the people that can be fooled all of the time.
Anyway I think I understood quite well and my answer is still no that you cannot build a castle because a castle has 1000 gold income and the only thing you can build that can provide you with income is a marketplace.
However, obviously if you want to build a *pretend castle*, you can build as many barracks as you are able with towers and walls and even drawbridges and you can even do that close to the gold mine and gempond and maybe even a metal mine;
but you did not ask if you could build a *pretend castle* which does not provide income; you asked if you could build a castle, and a castle as we know it has a castle floor that allows special features including defensive bonuses, but most importantly provides 1000 gold income.
PS: Anyway okay you can build all those structures but it will really only be a *pretend castle* although if you can afford it and provide the necessary manpower to defend it, I guess it can provide defensive value.
Now to be honest I was going to say that a good suggestion would be to provide *hotspots* on the map where structures can be built and because they are built on a *hotspot* they could be made to provide income, but I think I understand that there are no more major changes planned for this version and I have no idea if this idea could be applied to the new version.
I think it was Abraham Lincoln who made that famous American statement and now someone will probably ridicule me for going into all this detail to answer this question.
I guess I could have just said, "yes you can build a *pretend castle" but no you can't build a *real castle*.

| Posted : Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 20:46 Taurus i liked you're answer
But in simon1 and mog replies, i find that IF i take over a "razed" castle i'll get the income from a another castle and mog says that for one to do the take over the "gray" area must still exist.
So now i reformulate my question. a) is Simon1 correct? b) does a "razed" castle disappear as the blood stains or destroyed piles do after a few turns?
and well... having LOTS of time, so that one COULD build fortresses and so on would BE wonderful I'm already picturing Vauban forts or Krak des Chevaliers around (ok... no kraks lol) but that would necessarilly implie... like 500 turn games with the first 50 to 100 reserved to improve oneself + one would HAVE to stay inside it's own boundaires for that time. It would be Medieval Trench War | | TaurusRex Joined 14/06/2002 Posts : 3595
| Posted : Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 21:09 Izno If you can capture the castle floor at least before it turns to rubble or disappears, whichever happens ... to be honest I forget, but you cannot bring a castle floor back once it is gone or it turns to rubble to the best of my knowledge.
Actually yes I would like to be able to build fortresses and walls all over the place and be able to man them but there is a very limited supply of resources to do this so you have to budget your assets well and really that idea with the "hotspots" wouldn't be necessary if we could either research something like town hall or have a town hall building to at least allow tax collection.
PS: I'm happy you aren't offended by my joking with you and to be honest I did miss the connection to your previous post and simon's post except I was sure you meant after the castle disappears. Anyway you should have seen my first answer.
