| Posted : Tuesday, 28 June 2005 - 23:52 I was at work last nite on WOL when my computer started acting funny. I had been writing a post and part of what I wrote disappeared. Later all web pages were closed and a couple of error messages poped up. One said "you don't have user authority to perform the requested action". Thats not exact but it is close.
After that pop-ups started appearing even when no one was using the system.
Tonight at home while placing a post I watched the blue bar at the bottom show activity several times after the web page was loaded. Thanks to the security I have on the system I was told that active x controls were prevented from being installed on the system. So something is attempting to load active x controls with out the user being aware of it.
One of the banners that was up had yellow covering the left half and said "Down Load Now>>> and "Web Search" would pop-up in a text box.
The other banner was "Find out more ways to be a great dad at www.fatherhood.org" | | DoctorFeudal Joined 7/05/2005 Posts : 30

| Posted : Saturday, 2 July 2005 - 00:56 Hmmmmmmm........I have to choose my words wisely so Im not "Whining" as so kindly stated a few messages ago. Actually I thought it was Warriors discussing a problem and working for a solution........ Well, anyway, the Virus I get is always in my RESTORE ARCHIVE listed as; C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\AAWTMP\C3055962\396A58\A0001509.CPY I do get them from opening the Maps, from Pop-Ups? I dont know? Thats impossible to tell when they occur at every page and open twice as fast! Again the only solution I have available is ADAWARE, that brings it out and NAV Zaps it!

| Posted : Saturday, 2 July 2005 - 17:59 Chunky if it is in your restore archive then your system has it saved.
I do not know the steps for removing restore files. Most AV and spyware removers can't do it. | | huitzilopochtli Joined 29/08/2003 Posts : 186

| Posted : Thursday, 7 July 2005 - 13:48 why are the site admins not even recognizing this as a very severe problem? This should be a TOP priority | | chunky50 Joined 7/08/2004 Posts : 12
| Posted : Saturday, 9 July 2005 - 00:47 You were exactly right Trainer! I shut off System Restore, ran AdAware, NAV Zapped it and I havent seen "that" one since! Thanks! | | sam adams Joined 6/08/2004 Posts : 82
| Posted : Saturday, 9 July 2005 - 23:47 I just got 3 virus message's, one right after another. The third kicked me clear out of this site and closed Explorer. I have McAfee.
Has anyone emailed Requiem about this yet? | | Ultima Bahamut Joined 1/12/2001 Posts : 1274
| Posted : Friday, 22 July 2005 - 10:48 Doctor Feudal... offspring...there IS no real administration except for req...he is a ONE MAN show here and he does not have as much time for this game as he used to Stop whinning about the golden status so much and send him polite messages.Better yet find someone who can find a more direct form of contacting him for you
This is not the worst service on the web because you are in reality not getting a service
Stop freaking out about the stupid virus...if you guys are getting this then that means you probably have internet explorer as your browser.Only people who arent computer smart and/ or are too lazy to get other browsers go through these problems.i use mozilla firefox atm and never fot that download. With AVG and Adaware SE your computer can be safe.I also suggest using another browser or get a super strict pop up blocker (if you do have another browser and it still gets downloaded). Also since its also in the map
And lastly i have heard somewhere or maybe even read that sometimes Anti-virus software will read a file as virulent because of specific coding and in reality the file is not harmful at all...that might apply in this case ...not trying to tell you to calm down or to leave it on your computer and see just saying Req hasnt upgraded maps in a while.i think we have been getting the same files, however your virus checker has gotten smarter lately and can check more vastly for the viruses.
Also there is a slight chance i could be off on some of this info | | DoctorFeudal Joined 7/05/2005 Posts : 30
| Posted : Friday, 22 July 2005 - 12:15 Ultima I'll post as many complaints as i want here, no matter how many dicks tell me to stop. i paid my full dues within a week of joining here. i've had to quit 3 campaigns now because i cant have more than 3 going at once, because after 2 months, my membership has not been processed. I just want what was promised me by the site admin. And I've sent enough polite messages.
I wish I could be a computer genius like you, but i don't have that many years left, and the fact remains that there are viruses contained in the Active X installers on this site. Not only have we not gotten help fixing it, but most of the 'super nerds' here have taken turns denying its existence. I have been playing chess for 10 years online and have had bad service before, but never as bad as here. If it's a one man show, why don't people like you help him out instead of bitching at me. This is a BUG THREAD. This is where BUG REPORTS go. Being inept is no excuse when you are taking money for it. So stop whining about people posting legitimate suggestions. and lose the stupid smiley faces. | |
