Heres some food for thought.

The devil and his minions were cast down into the earths center! We as people who live on earth have always taken that to mean that they were cast into the core of the world. But if you are not living on the planet but outside of the universe, isn't it possible that we are those damned beings that must spend eternity in hell. After all if we spend to much time outside during the day don't we get burned.

- Interesting thought Ghengis.. After all, if we're all God's children; then doesn't that make Satan our distant cousin?

About death: Sure we've all spent some time considering our end.. But I think where we are here and now, is more important than worrying about something we can't possibly comprehend (afterlife and all that..) .. Seize the moment and don't take life for granted..

"The devil and his minions were cast down into the earths center!" - GK

That is a right bit of literal interpetation of Rev 12:9 I personally wouldn't read "he was cast out into the earth" to mean placed at the center of the earth inside the earths fiery core. Rather he was cast out of heaven and cast down to the earth (as is worded in various other scriptures).

"After all, if we're all God's children; then doesn't that make Satan our distant cousin?" - TheLix

Actually brother would be the correct term . Lucifer WAS a son of the morning (referenec Isa 14). If he was in heaven at one point and he was a son - he is therefore a son of God (though fallen angel now). We as sons and daughters of God are therefore brother to him (just as we are to Christ).

(I'm certain not all Christians will agree with me on this doctrine so take this as my view not necassirly the Chrisitan world at large view).

As to death... it's a part of life. Accept it, acknowledge it, move on.

To me death is like having to tolerate an abusive creep, feeling like I would rather be non-existent rather than act like a Godless creep myself, admitting to myself that there are some of God's children that I don't really like and that I don't think I ever will, feeling broken of heart and broken of spirit because of the realization that I am truly in some sort of hell.

Dear God damn my soul to the eternal flames because I have no desire for Heaven if I have to love my tormentors to get there.

Hocktuie to my tormentors.

You don't need to go on a diet harley! You're gorgeous as you are I can certainly do with some weight loss, 10lb would do nicely...

but since I don't want to take it completely off topic and we are discussing death here... even if I don't lose any weight, at least the worms will be happy.

I read a book when I was a kid called "Death - The Trip of a Lifetime!"
Where this guy went around and observed how different cultures celebrated Death :-)
Was a great book, actually.. I'd advise it to read!

Anyways, I think Death is an easy topic to discuss (for myself..)
I'm more scared of HOW I will die, rather than dying itself.

Why are you scared at all? Obviously your love for everything and everyone is not strong enough

I think we are given many opportunities in life, or shown many apples as Gyne put it, sadly however I believe most of the apples we are shown are rotten at the core, even though they look great on the outside.

Lets take for example icecream and sex. While these things may give us pleasure for a while, eventually they make us suffer. How? There comes a time when we've tried all the sorts of icecream and no longer enjoy any of it, or we've eaten it every day for many ears and have grown sick of it. And that makes us suffer because we can no longer enjoy icecream as we used to. Same goes for sex. When we are young and adventurous we have lots of sex in many different ways (or at least we try to) and derive lots of pleasure from it. But when we're old and ugly we can no longer enjoy sex the way we used to and that makes us suffer. This suffering is what I meant by the rotten core in the apples example.

I've been reading some Buddhist writings lately and I must say I am impressed. This does not mean that I will change my faith, wear orange dresses and ring bells, for I shall always remain an Orthodox Christian out of respect for my ancestors. But I have alot of respect for Buddhism, especially Indian Buddhism which focuses on development of the human body, mind and spirit. For a religion to be legitimate in my mind, it not only must have a doctrine and teachings which do not contradict themselves but it must also have an actual practical system for people to develop themselves. I think a religion must teach people about death and let them fully understand it so they are not afraid of it or anything else for that matter. Sadly most modern religions fail to meet the criteria..

You're right .. I don't love things enough to want to be a vegetable :-P

That scares me.
Being handicap scares me .. I dont think I could cope, but im sure under the circumstances, maybe I'd prevail :-P

Only one way to find out, and I don't intend to go there...

No disrespect to the handicapped, of course.. They are extremely strong individuals and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them!

There is somewhat of a contradiction to living life to it's fullest as if there is no tomorrow and "bad apples" because I think ONE of the reasons that we believe in Heaven and the hereafter is so that we will live a descent and moderate existence while we are here on Earth rather than try everything and So become "rotten to the core".

EeYuk ... beam me up Scotty
because there are cadavers down here with maggots crawling in and out of the ears and noses.

For those who don't think I speak religiously enough or from the Bible enough I offer the following:

I try to see the good of my religion and all religions from a common sense and logical point of view as well as from one of God's faithful childrens' point of view.
