I've been notified by WarGamer, that sometime this week (before Saturday) they will be moving servers.
This means WarOnline will be down for about 1 day, thats my guess at least.
Good news is, I understand the new servers will be much bigger & faster. Which of course means things should run faster

yea, i dont know whats happening.
the new owners of WarGamer basically do not answer my emails.
i was only lucky enough that i kept in contact with the old owner, and he mentioned the supposed upgrade to me.
so just be prepared over the next week or so for some downtime.

Do games freeze when the server is replaced?

yes, im guessing everything will stop.
they will be replacing both Web & Database servers, so there wont be any updates while the Database server is being changed.
there may be a little bit of time in between though, so I cant say there wont be any time lost. and since i have no idea when its going to happen, theres really nothing i can do about it either. :|

maybe you should switch servers req, if these new owners are giving you too much of a problem.

not so easy.
i doubt many other servers would give me free hosting 
if i could get free hosting on a good bandwidth/server system, that also allows me to keep my ad-banners, id seriously consider it.
its unlikely though.

there are actually some problems.
Wargamer has been redesigned, and now there is no link to waronline on it. BAD
Email from the wargamer domain doesnt reach waronline. so i dont get any emails from them which means i dont get any downtime notices. BAD
I wanted to add things and change things on a technical level but I no longer have remote access to the servers, nor can I reliably contact anyone there about it. BAD
Also, I just found out the server upgrade has been delayed a few weeks.

But still, I remember checking Wargamer many moons ago just to see if we had a link, and I still didn't find it, so it's not really news to me
Even so...if you have no technical access...how are we to change the game in future?

dont get me wrong but it sounds like wargamer got rid of the free hosted games.
you should really look for a new host! or you will have to write a very hard mail telling them you are in real trouble.

yes, that page uses the old site design, which also had a waronline link on the right menu.

right. they r now using php. all the asp stuff is old and you are only able to find waronline wia search ---> google search. thats BAD.
i lloked for other free hosts but... well, there arent good ones. wargamer seems to be one of the very few choices.
perhaps they have just some staff/mail problems... lets hope that! they are still asking for free games to host...!

i also wrote them (webmaster and operations guy) asking for re-adding the link, announcing server changes, giving back server access, and so on. dont worry, i was VERY polite.

req i know a few servers myself, it all depends on how much bandwidth and server space you need.
if they kick you out we dont want to lose you and this game
