Don't say somethings not possible unless you've checked the higher level players

Wish is the way to go for early rush tactics...
You'll get the economy boost with the additional castle.

tarim: currently I don't consider myself a higher level player, but let's just say marksmen at turn 15 is quite possible.

Actually, now I'm overthinking my current game where I took a few extra resource-piles, I think it should be possible to get marksmen in one barracks plus 3750 income per turn (that's one upgraded goldmine) by turn 10. Of course the other 2 barracks are stuck with scouts and spearmen, and no advanced training, and not a lot of new troop buying can be done in the meantime.

Hmm, I think I'm giving away too much now

It is ... remember the attack modifier that spears have against mounted troops.

A quick test on the combat simulator.

300 spearmen: 1
30 Heavy Cavalry: 4

Someone not spending resources on getting HC and upgrading his production instead of trooplevel also has a few advantages..

It was not max damage (they both started doing over 1000, and It would have been in the HC favour if it was Max Dam), no other modifiers.

If the spearmen were in a tower or similiar they may be able to win more convincingly.

Plus, of course, someone with heavy cavalry may not have advanced weapons + armour at that stage..

So the only real moral of this is:
Don't rush spearmen against heavy cavalry out in the open on their own and expect a wonderous victory. (SHOCK)

Egregius - Marksmen on turn 15... This is madness that you speak of.. why would anybody wait so freaking long to get marksmen... unless they wanted to concentrate on HC instead?

HC and marks are viable by turn 15!

Well it's turn 13, and I chose to stick with mace/falch/ball and extra training instead

yea, im in a game where i can start trainign knights turn 7 and get (4 i think) a turn so by turn 15 i have
32 knights

if i chose to do this, but the flip side would be i am skipping a lot of basic techs and other troops which might hurt me

Decisions decisions

What should i do?

Not this if you're defending against an early rush (the topic! )

Although...so long as he resources and barracks are relatively un-impinged upon... (is that even good grammar? )
