My forces are moving to reinforce position. Please hurry." Capt. Mikalus grinned to himself. His forces were eager for battle and moving quickly. The next few days would prove to be very interesting. Oppurtunity for a young Scout Capt. to get recognized and possibly promoted to the Falchioners. Time would tell. Capt. Mikalus grinned evilly thinking of the upcoming battle. None would escape his sword..
2) Sir Garrett, Commander of the 2nd Falchioners, opened his orders. His hands shook with anticipation. " Redirect forces to the current war front. Move all forces at your disposal with haste." Garrett wrinkled the paper and through it into the fire. It would require 2 days of hard march to move his entire force into position. "Squire,... Sound assembly. We move out immediately." The enemies forces would pay for this with their blood. He had just finished cleaning the first days dust from his boots.

| Posted : Tuesday, 21 September 2004 - 21:25 My Lord we have a messenger from general Zander. Also scout leader R'Hakmar has sent a report.
"What does the general have to say?"
He is calling for knowledge of our troops and our current battle plan. He also wants to know what you plan in the near future to improve your ability to make war.
"He should know better than that. It is to easy for an enemy to capture a messenger. Send this as my reply. General Zander I regret that I can not give you the full details that you have requested. The risk that such information might fall into the enemies hands is to great. This I can tell you my troops are even now marching upon the knave Hwatta and we shall grind him under our heels. When we meet at the gathering I shall give you all of the information you desire.
Have the message prepared at once and send the messenger on his way. Then come back and give me R'Hakmars report."

| Posted : Wednesday, 22 September 2004 - 16:33 Capt. Mikalus stared up at the vultures as they circled overhead. What could have brought him to this? How could this have happened to him? He answered himself in almost the same instant. It was his overconfidence. How could he have been so bold as to lead his Scout troop into battle without proper support. General Hagar's troops fought bravely enough but, in the end, there were not enough to properly support his Scout unit. He swore he would never make that mistake again--- then he breathed his last breath just as a vulture plucked out and swallowed his eye. My lord I have just learned there have been some problems with your new barracks, and it will not be completed on schedule.
"WHAT, that barracks was supposed to be finished today. We need to increase our recruitment, and need a place for the recruits to sleep. I have Hankyspanky sowing descent within the populace, lord Lonestorm says he has met with serious opposition from Hwatta and is falling back to regroup, and general Zander has asked me to send some of my forces his way. All of this requires me to recruit more troops. So why isn't my barracks ready?"
I am not sure my lord, the chief engineer Hasad started talking about the building materials and other things that I have no understanding of.
"That project is already over its budget, bring me the chief engineer, I would here from him why he has failed to do as he promised." Yes my lord!
later
"Hasad I would like to know why the barracks hasn't been completed as you said it would be?" Lord Khan, one of the younger members developed a technique that more than doubled the structural integrity of a building. I felt this was to valuable not to incorporate into a building designed to house troops. Should an enemy get close, you will find that it is far more capable of standing up to attack than the original design. The new design required more materials and took a little longer to get the basic structure finished. However I think you will be pleased with the out come. We will be finished in two days.
"Two days? my clan is at war I have forces marching. They are expecting reinforcements to be following them. This delay could well put the enemy at this castle testing your building theories. Now how long is it going to take you to finish the barracks?"
(hehmm, gulp, lots of fidgeting) My lord the men and I will work through the night we will have the barracks ready for you by tomorrow. We will not fail you!
"You had best hope that you don't or your men will need a new leader! (glares at Hasad) Now go and get that barracks finished."
Yes lord Khan! (exits the main hall, then runs for the building project) _________________________________________________________ yesterday
field reports
My Khan
Your scouting forces have been successful in finding the last of the bandits and renegades. Though we have sustained some losses they were less than we feared. We were also able to secure a gem pond and you should start receiving those resources shortly. I sent a messenger to find the main force and notify them about our delay, and inform them of what I have discovered, incase they had marched before you got my last report. We should be linking up with the main force within two days.
Your loyal servant Scout Leader R'Hakmar
Lord Kahn
We have reached the rendevious area but the scouting forces were not there. We spotted forces of Hankyspanky, but set ourselves up defensively as your orders were to avoid combat with Hankyspanky if possible. A messenger of Kingmen3 was able to get past Hankyspanky's forces. He informed me that Kingmen3 is at Hanky's castle and the forces there are light. But that his lord did not know of the forces we allowed to head home. A messenger from the scouts has also arrived telling us of their delay, and what hanky has been doing in our territory. I have sent the scouts messenger back giving him orders for the scouts to meet us at Hanky's castle instead of here. I am sending this message along with Kingmen3's messenger allowing you to know that I have altered your orders. We are marching on Hanky's castle to join forces with Kingmen3 and put and end to such a lowly being. Please inform any reinfrorcements of where they will find us.

field report
Lord Kahn
We have spotted several of Hanky's comm units, one unit was a little impatient and rushed ahead to attack. Then spotted a unit of Hanky's archers and one of his spearmen as well. Hanky's castle is well fortified, the walls are made of stone and will prove a challenge to breach. I have faith in the troops though, we shall go over, through, or under those walls. The war will begin in ernest by the end of the day. If you have some spare people this land is ripe with resources that can enhance the war effort. Sending someone to gather them would be a good idea. If we were not fighting with hankyspanky I would send some of my troops to do it, but they are needed for the battle.
Your servant Field General Katan ________________________________________________________
"Franklyn, have you seen these reports?"
No my lord.
"Hear read them then and tell me what you think."
My lord the scout leader and the field general have both knowingly disobeyed your orders. If it were up to me I would have them both arrested and put to death.
"That shows why you are not in command of my armies. The men I promote understand that I don't want an idiot leading my forces, but a person who will take into account the information I don't have and the threat to the troops. Contrary to popular belief I would like as many as possible to come back alive. Someday you may earn a command position, but it won't be until after you learn that I want men I can depend on, not men who will tell me what they think I want to hear. That won't change no matter how much your sister nags me to give you a command. You are a good warrior, but you are not ready for a command yet." Lord Khan
We were not surprised to see Hanky's troops run from us, what surprised us was that they did not run for their castle. We discovered the reason why as your scouting forces can be seen on the horizon. One of your scout units took heavy losses from the spearman charge and their archer support. It may not survive the battle. My men are even now preparing to charge they await my command, I have prepared this report in case something should go wrong. If our forces are defeated the messenger has orders not to wait but to get this to you along with news of what happened. If we win the day I will add more to this report later.

YOU THERE STOP!(flap, flap, flap) Oh corporal Franklyn it is you. What are you doing with these pigions up here? What is in your hand?
This it is nothing I was just walking around and happened to spot these birds and came to investigate.
I will need to see that peace of paper you have in your hand corporal Franklyn!
This is a personal message for lord Khan and I have orders to allow no one else to see it.
Very well you may carry it, but we will be escorting you to the lord. You see we have orders to take anyone who goes near those pigions to lord Khan for questioning. (nods to to of the gaurds to take his arms)
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? Unhand me this instant I am the brother to the lord Kahn's wife, do you think you'll get away with this.
We have our orders corporal Franklyn, we were put here because the lord has complete faith that we are loyal to him. If you are not guilty of anything then I shall be the first to apologize. Oh you seem to have dropped the message to the lord, well you said it was private so I won't open it but I'll make sure he gets it. (at this Franklyn pales)
My lord sgt Ramirez is here and wishes an audience. For some reason he has your brother-in-law under arrest.
"I was affraid of this, tell sgt Ramirez to come in and dismiss the supplicants, this is not for them to see or here."
Yes my lord.
"Sgt Ramirez what have you to report?"
My lord we staked out that coup of hidden pigions as you instructed. We observed corporal Franklyn remove a pigion and prepare to put something on its leg. That is when we stopped him. He was startled and the bird flew off but not with the message. When we questioned him he said the message was for your eyes only. After informing him that we would be escorting him to you he accidently dropped the message so I picked it up. But I did not open it, my men and even corporal Franklyn can attest to that.
My lord the sgt is lying it was he and his men that were at the pigions when I came upon them. They arrested me to allay any suspicions you might have of them.
"Sgt Ramirez where is this letter?"
Right here milord.
'Lord Hankyspanky the fools troops have disobeyed his orders, and are going to attack you. I have just found out, so this warning may not get to you before his forces do.'
Lord Khan is their anything in the letter that says I am the person who wrote it. I don't think so, as I said it was one of these men who wrote the letter and are trying to place blame on me.
"You are correct Franklyn, there is no name of who wrote the letter. I selected the men who watched the pigions for one reason though, none of them know how to read or write. Then there is the fact that when you were in the field you sent your sister tails of your heroism and comand capabilities..."
My lord what do letters I sent my sister have to do with this? | | Ghengis Khan Joined 24/03/2003 Posts : 828
| Posted : Thursday, 23 September 2004 - 12:44 "They would have nothing to do with it, if the hand writing on those letters did not match the hand writing on this. You see your sister honestly believes in you, and in her attempts to get me to promote you, she showed me your letters. I have my field commanders though, and they gave me a different view. The penalty for treason is death (at this Franklyn becomes ghost white), but that would break your sisters heart for I know she loves you deeply. Your actions will hurt her badly enough, this will be your punishment. You shall write a letter to your sister, honestly telling her of your treason, and of my kindness in only banishing, you instead of having you drawn and quartered as is the normal punishment. You will write this letter in the prescence of the gaurds and the seneschall will review it. If your letter fails to be honest and tell your sister of my great act of kindness, you will still be drawn and quartered. Provided the letter is satifactory the guards will then escort you to the stables and you will be given a horse of their choice, if you are found within my borders at the end of a week your life is forfiet. Take him away I do not ever want to see him again."
He finished the letter my lord, and has been sent on his way messengers have been sent out to all of the forces so they will be aware of his treachery. We did this before he left, so they should arrive ahead of him to any of our forces and prevent him from causing any harm.
"Thank You, I forgot about that. His sister is going to be shattered when she learns of this. She truly idolized him, and he had so much potential to."
She will be home in a few days lord and the gaurds are escorting him in the opposite direction so he can't try to cause harm, by going to her. In three days they will leave him with the horse you gave him.
"Which horse was that?"
Buttercup sir, she is performing one last deed by carrying that traitor away from our lands. Although she might not have him out of our borders by the end of the week.
"I did not think buttercup was even alive any more, she must be well over 30."
34 to be exact lord, but her deeds were so well known none of us wanted to put her down. Now she has one last deed to add to her legend.
"It is done then, put the letter in my wifes chamber, I need some time to think."
My lord I hesitate to ask this but is it possible that your wife knew about this.
(anger briefly passes across Ghengis Khans face)
"You are right, there is the possibility that she knew. But she was the one who discovered the pigions, and showed them to me. My wife may be naive, but she is not stupid. She would not have showed me these pigions if she were involved in her brothers treason. I will not order you to ignore the possibilty, but I do not want to hear of it again unless you have actual proof. Is that understood!"
Yes my lord it is quite clear. I shall make sure the guards that captured Franklyn understand this too.
"Very well, I wish to be alone now."

Brave Capt. Williams i'm glad you won the 1st battle against kingmen but i'm sure this isn't our only battle with him. You don't have to worry about the battle with Ghengis just take care of Kingmens troops first, i send Major Grand to Ghengis and Lt Gavolt is there already when you finished off the remaining troops of kingmen send some of you're troops to Ghengis but let some of you're troops scout cause kingmen may not suprise us again.
while i was scribing my letter General Hutchkins came in:
M'lord my troops are almost ready to go they are in the barracks now waiting for you're orders
'Hutchkins let your troops train for a while we need them later when Ghengis is approaching he won't know anything about you're troops waiting to kill him off'
but M'lord my troops are rearing to go in battle and are totally ready for it
'I know hutchkins but i'll need you're troops later let Major Grand fight with his troops against Ghengis and when it's neccassery i will send you as well! is that clear?'

Lord Khan!
I have good news to report. We were able to deal with almost all of Hanky's forces we spied outside his scastle. Some of his comms fled in General Zanders direction, we felt it better to prusue more dangerous foes. We destroyed a group of spearmen, archers, and comms that was attacking our scouting units, then proceeded to march on the castle. Hanky had three militia units gaurding the gate.
Even though they weren't at combat strength the First scout regulars lead the charge, they refused to be held back, and were followed by the second scout regulars as well as the militia, pikemen, squires, spearmen, and archers.
Two of the militia units were utterly destroyed, while the third was driven back inside the castle and our troops entered before the gate could be closed. Unfortunately the first scout regulars ceased to exit as they drove into the enemies castle. Scout leader R'Hakmar though injured, had already taken command of the second scout regulars for the battle. You should hear, all of the troops are shouting his name, even the squires and militia who have a great dislike for cavalry. Never have they seen entry into a castle so easy before.
The loss of the first scout regulars saddens me. However I already have a bard creating a song of their deeds, so they will not be forgotten.
I look forward to sending you news of our victory here shortly. Then we shall be marching upon Hwatta.

Message to Field General Katan
"General Katan
It saddens me to hear of the loss of so many fine men. I expect to hear that bards song soon.
I have complete faith in your abilities, but don't ignore R'Hakmars suggestions. He has earned his postion, he has a quick wit and a keen mind for tactics. I am actually surprised that a unit of scouts was destroyed, R'Hakmars tactics usually include keeping men alive, not sending them to their death. Between the two of you we should be able to achieve victory with minmal losses.
Do not rush to defeat Hanky at the cost of your men. There are some reinforcements on the way, but they may be the last that you will be recieving for a while. General Zander has informed me that the fighting on his front has intensified. He is now facing Savetuba, Rockhammer, and some of Hwatta's forces. He may be needing me to send forces to his aid. Should that occur I will be taking the field myself. I have too few men capable of leading others, the rest that covet such a position are nothing but syncophants, and would get any forces they lead slaughtered in a heart beat. With you and R'Hakmar already inbattled I shall have to lead any other attack force.
Take care of R'Hakmar, and teach him, for he has the potential to be a great general, and I need more men such as you.

Our scouts did arrive at the castle of Hankyspanky in time to make a glorious cavalry charge against the offensive forces of Ghengis Khan. The battle rages, but our forces may yet turn the tide." The general smiled his trademark semi-toothless grin, "Even better...the commandeers of Lord Lonestorm were caught in the open by our following forces...they were undefended and none survived."

The general continued, "The castle was but lightly defended by some spearman trainees and the caretaker commandeers. This development was due to the hard fighting of Lords ROCKHAMMER and Hagar who defeated Lord Kyrion's seasoned troops on the field of battle. Our forces swept in through the east gate and took control with little resistance. The new recruits quickly decided to join our forces and they should be completing their training shortly."

The following major battles rage on...
Hwatta vs Kyrion Ghengis Khan vs Hankyspanky Zander vs savetuba Hankyspanky vs Ghengis Khan Zander vs ROCKHAMMER Hwatta vs Ghengis Khan Ghengis Khan vs Hwatta savetuba vs Zander Hwatta vs Lonestorm Hwatta vs kingmen3 Kyrion's Castle has been taken over by Hwatta.
"Our forces have been incredibly active across the length and breadth of the lands. They meet with much success!"
Lord Hwatta nodded. "Yes, it is unfortunate that we did not find a way to attack Lord Zander in force or we could have had a complete set. Hmmmm...only Ghengis managed to damage our troops sufficiently to be mentioned in todays reporting?"
"Yes, M'lord. His forces attacked our relief forces at Lord Hanky's castle en masse. We still await news of the outcome."
