Don't suppose you would consider it a bribe and go away?

Nah! Didn't think so.
Cheers,
H.

PS...there are more over at 5,72...why don't you have your troops go over and get them now...instead of attacking us?

Lord kingmen's fast scouts had rushed across the courtyard through the rubble that had been a makeshift wall a short time ago. The wall had been breached by a determined attack from the men flying the colors of Lord's Lonestorm and Ghengis. The scouts saw their chance to damage the extremely dangerous marksmen occupying the south tower. With battle cries and the crash of armor they charged the tower and caught a few unprepared marksmen at the doorway.

Then Lord Hwatta rushed through the doorway, his greatsword held aloft flashing rays of the morning sun. "Pikemen, rally to me!", he called as he surprised the leading scouts with unexpected death.

Suddenly the target did not seem quite as soft to the bewildered scouts. The efficient and disciplined pikes closed ranks and crushed the scouts against the now closed south tower.

With the immediate threat abated, the marksmen were able to turn their deadly attentions on the more potent gathering threats. Lord Ghengis had sent his pikes after the new marksman recruits at the barracks. Lord Lonestorm had squires inside and outside the walls. So many targets...so little time. The accuracy of the marksmen and ballista turned the tide of battle in the courtyard.

Lord Hagar led his falchioniers on a brave charge against the ballista and squires gathering outside the castle. The fighting ebbed as the attacking force withdrew a short distance to regroup and rebuild their morale for the coming final assault.

Suddenly it became very quiet at Castle Kyrion.

Lord Hwatta saw to the men...cheering them and exalting thier efforts. He gave directions to do what they could for the wounded from both sides, ensured hot food was being prepared for all, and posted sentries to keep watch for the enemy. Then, he allowed himself to return to the warmth of the tower to spend one final night in the slight comfort it offered. His colors would grace the high battlements for a bit longer.

Castle Rockhammer will be in enemy hands by the end of the day. It has been fun and good luck to the remaining WARLORDS. Very well played game Crusaders. We will be on your level someday and then I believe a rematch may be in order..

You already are on our level in my opinion Rock. And I think your prediction may be off by a day or so. You still have the capabilities of being a pain in our butt for a while yet

You've played well Rock, good job

Yes Rock I lack the movement to get to your castle yet, with my comms. Then it will depend on how many troops are in there and your tech level.

I agree with Zander you guys are playing great and are a challenge.

edited to make Zander happy.

Well that lone barricks of Rocks was, and still is in the midst of a large number of hostile forces. I could not have saved the barricks as your numbers are probably 3 to 4 times that of mine. I am still over at castle kyrion, but if you want me to come play I can.

Close your eyes and count backwards from 100,000. And please ignore any screams you hear while your eyes are closed.

back to role playing

Field report

Lord Khan

As I told you earlier, we did not march to Hwatta at castle Kyrion. Instead we marched upon Rockhammer with the expectation of meeting Lord Zander there. Unfortunately Lord Zander didn't arrive as anticipated. Apparently Savetuba put up more of a fight than he expected him to. So that left us to face Rockhammer's forces alone. This had me a little worried because I had already sent several units up to assist with the seige at Hwattas. Major Kelly had informed me that they had led an asualt into castle Kyrion that met with devestation as large amounts of troops began pooring out of the barracks once they entered. He was unsure of how far they would need to withdraw as all three forces had been badly mutilated and Hagar had a large force of falconiers supported by pikemen in the area. I am sorry to report that the unit of arbelestiers and pikemen that had originally gone up with the squires has been wiped out. AS for the squires they aren't really combat effective but they have remained active to help protect Lord Lonestorm's balistas.

Now for the good news, we have already captured Rockhammer's castle, sustaining minimal losses in the process. When we neared the border we spotted Rockhammers goldmine, it was my intention to capture it and deprive him of that resource. But as we were preparing to charge Rockhammer sent a unit of macemen and a unit of militia out to greet us. I thought it better to deal with the hostiles before letting our commandeers get caught up up in battle. As we reached the enemy forces we could see Rockhammer's castle, the walls were in a poor state of repair. He must have been using his money to train those fancy falconiers and macemen of his. We also noticed that his castle didn't seem to be fully manned. So instead of going after the gold mine we took the castle. He hadn't sustained as many losses as some of his allies, but then it does take longer to train those falconiers and macemen. So his losses were about equal with his allies who were using lower quality troops, but training them faster. The war must have been devastating in his land, as we swept into the castle a few more soldiers tried to stop us but we quickly cleared and claimed the castle. We are now in the process of securing the surrounding territory and resources. Once that is complete we shall resume our march.

Your servant
Field General Katan

"Seneschal have you seen this report? General Katan has already captured a third castle of the warlords alliance. I actually have hopes that this war will be ending shortly. We've taken down two of the warlords already and if rumors are to be believed then Zander should have Savetuba's castle by now as well. I want any forces not already marching to head for the war front. It is time to bring an end to this war!"

Yes my lord. All combat effective troops are already marching we expect more troops in the next few days including catapults to bring down their walls and towers should the need arise.

"So, M'lord, I see there is good news?!?", said the old wizard with a slight smile on his wrinkled face.

"You have been watching from here, have you? Yes. The news is good today. Our raiding party was able to track the two contingents of Lord Lonestorm's commandeers that were attempting the rear approach and destroy them all. Your value has once again proved beyond my ability to recount."

"The storm is gathering. It will not be long now. I see a fierce battle...the men will fight bravely. It will be long remembered in story and song among the Crusader clan. But, in the end...our efforts will not be enough M'lord."

"I know that wizard. Thank you for easing my mind on so many counts. I must continue to prepare the men for the glorious finale to this conflict. They are eager for battle, but...as you say...it will not be enough in the end. Good day, wizard. Keep warm. I will need your services again shortly." With that, Lord Hwatta headed back down the steps to the new barracks. There were new recruits to train...and quickly.

"The final assault is upon us, M'lord. I fear we shall not be able to break this seige. The men would rather go out and face the enemy in combat than serve as pin cushions for their ballista and marksmen," stated a flushed General Eldor.

"Yes, General. I think that is an excellent idea! Except for our softer ranged units and commandeers to support them, we shall take as many of these attacking forces with us as possible. Our men shall know the glory of combat...not the death of 1000 arrows," declared Lord Hwatta. "Wizard...blow down these walls and let our men get some revenge on these enemy ranged units who think they are safe from us."

The wizard's grin was unmistakable even in these dire circumstances. "Certainly, M'lord!" With a wave of his staff, the walls crackled and fell around much of the castle with stones shattering outward. "One of their wizards must have put a protective spell on some of their forces, M'lord. It prevented the walls from shattering in a few spots. This should work nicely though."

"Thank you, wizard. Are our final preparations made?"

"Yes, M'lord," the wizard nodded.

"General! Let us make our final charge! Tell the men to engage the enemy at will!"

With that said the three headed out to join the men and meet the final battles of the long and bloody Crusaders WAR.

The wizard was breathing heavily with effort and concentration. Strange signs seemed to glow and fade in the air as he moved his hands and his staff. A sound, as of rushing wind, was intensifying by the second.

"M'lord, we are finished here! This land has been conquered by the might of the combined Crusaders armies. The last men are making their final stands now and taking as many of the attackers with them as they can," the bloody and battered General Eldor stated flatly. "It has been a glorious battle and we have taken many of the dreaded ballista and marksmen with us. You must escape M'lord to fight them another day! I will lead the final battles of our remaining scout armies."

"Thank you, General. But, your years of experience are too valuable to throw away. I will need you to accompany me to the next realm. The wizard will have the portal open at any moment now."

A sudden flash and low roar caught their attention as the portal opened atop the final tower. "M'lord, it is open! I have made a passage to a realm called Clan 28. From what I can discern, the territory there is the same as this one and we have the castle in the dead earth zone where we began our trials in this war," said the perspiring and exhausted wizard.

"Ah, it will be nice to live in a warm castle again. This ice realm does not agree with me. Especially under these circumstances. Go through and hold it from the other side...I need to survey the conquering armies one last time to learn as much of their methods and capabilities as I can. We will face them again someday." Lord Hwatta waved the General and the wizard through the open portal.

The forces of Lords Lonestorm, Ghengis, kingmen and Zander filled the plains as far as the eye could see. There were marksmen, ballista, catapults...all firing deadly projectiles at the last forces and buildings in Castle Kyrion. Experienced melee troops with seasoned leaders filled the courts, surrounded the last barracks, and threatened this final tower.

Lord Hwatta shook his head. It was over. He turned and stepped through the portal. With a silent flash, the portal was closed and the only thing remaining atop the last tower in Castle Kyrion was the cold icy wind.

Well played Crusaders! Congratulations on you decisive victory.
