"And the scouts, the line will hold, right?" He asks the man to his right.
"That's right, sir. According to our present intel, there is absolutely no way that Klavert's forces can break through our lines. To press forward would be suicide, and retreat would only delay the invevitable."
Sage chuckled. "And our allies? How do they fare?" Sage turned to a different advisor, on his left.
"Our reports are not very detailed, sir." The thin, wiry man answered nervously. "But it seems that our ally cardfan is faring quite well indeed. Reports say that he is slaughtering the enemy Lons at an even faster pace than our own conquest of Klavert."
He continued. "And battle has just broken out between ^ector and Grumpalot. It doesn't appear that ^ector has suffered any casualities of yet."
Sage looked across the table to his remaining advisor. "And our covert oper---"
The portly man cut him off. "Do not speak of such things, even here, milord. The enemy is crafty, and we do not know if they are listening through magic spell, or perhaps something more mundane...like a spy." He looks suspiciously around the room. "I assure you, milord, things are going fine, if a problem arises, I shall inform you at once."
Sage nods solemnly. "Very well, you are all dismissed. Bring me more good news." |
